Surviving Minnesota!

Ivie..dudess! And no, they don't use turkey diapers! Ralph is right...turkeys are like dogs with feathers. Holm has a harness & sweater for his...but he hasn't posted any pictures. ..yet!

Rhetts...my dad was a vet. He spent a lot of time looking at folks heifers because of nervous owners. Apparently it's a process as the calf moves into position. From your description she seems uncomfortable but not distressed. I think you would see a huge change in her demeanor if she was in trouble. That's my 2 cents. I don't know...I used to avoid the cattle. I do know if he had to trudge through a field with jerk cattle, bulls mostly, he took a baseball bat.

Ya know - that is pretty gross. It was a one-time joke wasn't it? Don't you think that? Or should we think that it would not matter if their bed was pooped in? Yuk!

This is nice...this afternoon we've got a good lady chat going on!!! usually there's alot of men folk on here...but I do enjoy my lady chat too.

Off to a Basketball game though. The Youngins are playing...both are.

Memphis I think you're Southern Accent is rubbing off on me.

I noticed a good 'girl' talk a week ago between us. It was fun!

I agree Ivie & Bogtown...we ought to have a gitls only night!

No Ivie...these folks aren't joking....they really do bring their TWO turkeys in to sleep with them if they think it's too cold for them at night. I'm serious, Ralph & Holm can back me up.
They did just lose one of the turkrys, they were deviststed.

I have never had Turkeys but have nothing against them. The people with the Turkeys in bed need an intervention I think.
What do you think Ralphie, Judy does not even want them on the deck.
Your hatch % seems good to me for this early in the year. Not only is egg cooling an issue, but rooster fertility and libido can be a factor as well.

So i planted some herbs the other day in plastic bins including rosemary. The seed packet contained 250 seeds and instructions said to plant them thickly, so i planted them all in about 1.25 square feet of dirt. Today i thought I would google how long it took to germinate

"Rosemary seed takes 15 to 25 days to germinate under ideal conditions. Plant the seed about 1/4 inch deep in a well-draining germination mix. Water thoroughly and place the seed tray on a heating mat. Only about 30 percent of the seeds can be expected to germinate even under the best conditions, so plant seeds thickly. It can take up to three months for the seedlings to emerge under less than ideal conditions."

So... They are on a heat mat under lights and currently have a dome on top. hopefully that counts as ideal or it could be summer before i see little rosemary plants!!!

Now i see why people online recommended propagation from cuttings!

The good news - The new toilet was installed in record time. Turns out the flush parts come pre-assembled in them now
The bad news - the supply line is about 3/4" too short to reach the new toilet tank and i am not driving 20 miles for a supply line.

The other good news - Bonus redneck points for having a toilet in my yard! Instead of awkwardly trying to drain the old toilet i disconnected it all at once picked the whole lot up and carried it out to the yard. The bolts holding it down were so rusted i didnt even have to unscrew them. just scratched at them with the wrench a little then yanked!

DW doesnt know it yet but i think i will leave it there until spring and then plant flowers in it :)

This is great!!

Points for the crapper in the yard for sure.. BUT if you set an Ice Cream bucket near the sink and write on it "use this to flush with"... And actually get your wife to flush the toilet with it, You will get double points!
