Surviving Minnesota!

Today was a good day. Had alot of fun with my birds. Spent lots of time with the cows. Talked to Ralph for a long time and talked about lots of fun things. All sorts of things today! I got pics but the upload picture button wont load so no pics right now. It was just a nice day... And the best news is that my Cochin rooster Zeus is living in my bedroom!! I told my mom what happenes to him and she was so sad she said take this sweatshirt and rap him up. We brought him hime and he is staying in a giant kennel for big dogs. He is going to make it but I dont know if Mr. T will. I am going to put him on craigslist and hope someone who likes to keep a small flock of turkeys want to add some color to their flock and future offspring.

Good morning back at ya..

I woke up to a scare this morning... I looked out the window and I thought I saw snow...

But upon closer examination, I found it was only frost. I guess living in the banana belt I forgot what frost looked like.

I hope the hawks find a different country Chicken Buffet fast. I have never seen that many hawks here before. I get the occasional hawk but the eagles and ravens keep them in check.

I think based on my one day of experience with hawks, I prefer eagles, while they take chickens they are not as brazen as these hawks were. I am actually glad Ed is locked in the breeding pen. I am afraid he would have tried to take them on.

Ed is such a good rooster he will fly up 200-300 yards in the air to do aerial combat with a lone eagle. Which he quickly dispatches, but 5-6 hawks might be more that he could handle..

Ed is a super rooster!

There is snow here @duluthralphie . It must have just missed you. It's pretty light, so should melt by the end of day.

I am an idiot! I looked out and King George and the British girls. Are foraging in the rhubarb! They are suppose to be locked up. Some idiot here, forgot to lock them in last night.

My layers go to bed early. Around 4pm and they are in the coop on their roosts. At that time I let King George and his girls out, they forage and free range until 6;30 or so. I went and picked up a stock tank for chicks from St Francis off craigslist at 6pm and forgot about king George,,,Duhhhhh

I am glad they made the night!

I have chicks coming next week and was thinking of doing a stock tank brooder in the basement for a week for them to get strong before I move them to my shop with the hover brooder. How big of a tank do I need for 25?
