Surviving Minnesota!

Funny yesterday. The DH was helping me by putting a roost in that new smaller coop. One of the girls jumped into the run because she was in there previously with the two RIR. She loved that coop and run to it when she saw it in the new location. I took it away and put the three hens back into the big coop when I knew we would be moving it. So she saw the coop and ran to it and jumped up and over and in.

Well, along came Tom. Who had not been in that coop. But now his hen was in it and my DH was standing along the side of it screwing in this roost and Tom did not like that the DH was that close to his hen. Tom started kicking the DH. The DH kicked back. Tom, of course, kept kicking. DH had a few words to say before I realized that the two males were in a battle together. I picked up Tom, who settled down right away. Not so much for the DH. LOL.

What is a DH?

My brahma bantam roo, Pumpkin, attacked me because I was trying to catch one of the hens. Usually I kick him or grab him, this time I had a stick in my hand. So I whacked him with the stick a little too hard. On the head. He fell over flapping on the ground, I picked him up and he couldn't hold his head up. I thought he was going to die. I took him inside crying and told mom. By the time I was done talking to her he seemed okay so I put him down to see if he could stand, he did, even walked away from us. So I took him in the coop and he is having alone time, the girls seem lost without him (they are outside).

I feel so bad

Please pray for him. I think he has a concussion. The stick was as big around as my thumb.
