Surviving Minnesota!

She got her original birds from Urch and brought in Shumaker lines and improved them alot. Now the birds she has are techniquely her line since she has had them for so long.

The doms are the ones I really want. The buckeyes were an after thought. You guys brag about them so much I thought I would try them.

I plan to breed them into other birds too, I want a decent/huge They are dual purpose so we will see.

Dual purpose is like that Sport Canoe they use to make. half boat / half canoe and did not do the job of either.

I need to hold a class on run building soon. I need more. I also need a class on Shed cleaning. I need to get pens setup for my larger birds. Considering I am not selling a lot other than creamettes. I could be over run with birds.

Ralphie, I think that you made two good choices there. I think you will be pleased with both breeds. You are fortunate to be located close enough to Mr. Urch to get eggs without having them shipped. I would think you will have good hatch results.

Good morning everyone! I have been so busy watching chick Tv with DW that i havent been keeping up! My girls are doing well and i swear you can watch the feathers sprouting on them if you sit still enough!

Cute!

Pumpkin keeps getting better.

Does that mean you are coming down here to the southland?? The Urch's are not far from me

I am coming down there. I will be there around noon.

I was going to Spring Valley to get that other incubator today. So I called Urch's to see if I could get some Dominique eggs. He asked if I wanted anything else and I threw in the Buckeyes. I have wanted Dominque's for couple years.

I want improve my stock to quality birds. I will be keeping these in pens much of the time until they are adults at least. They are kind of expensive. Not Creamette expensive but expensive. The price of these eggs might be something we keep from Judy for her own good.

When I first mentioned I wanted Dominques on here, EJB mentioned Duane Urich, The more I learned about him the more impressive he and his birds were. So thanks EJB..

After I had my carefully laid plans last night, the incubator guy called me from Spring Valley. He said he was going to be in ST Francis this evening at 6pm. So I am meeting him there instead of going to Spring Valley. I did not want to cancel the eggs, and I have not had good luck with eggs after the postal service plays Footegg or Basketegg with them. So I am biting the bullet and driving to Owatonna. On the bright side I will be bringing Turkey eggs to Cluckies and I get to meet her. Cooking not hatching eggs.

I will set the eggs tomorrow in the old 1202.

I scored some fence posts at Fleetfarm in Cambridge yesterday for 1.98 each. Treated wooden ones. They were "distressed" so they had them on their bargain pile. I do not care what they look like. They were mainly faded and some had a little bend or twist. For me that does not matter. I am going to have to be moving my birds further from the house. I am just getting too many breeds. SO I am going to have to use electric fences around the bases. But I had to edited to mention my big score!

unfortunately I'm headed to Rochester to find some supplies to work on my corn grinder and will be spending lunch time near the wicked witch of the south with DW. If you're still in town around one maybe we could get some coffee
