Surviving Minnesota!

Might I ask what store they are coming from?

This weather is for the birds!!!!! It is so cold, I just went out to check on the shed chicks and nearly froze my amply sized tush.... The snow/sleet and wind makes it even worse...

I am being a wuss today, I have been outside about 4-5 times and that is enough. I was going to sneak out and change turkey eggs on the broody turkey hen, but I am not up to a turkey wrassling match in the wet cold weather. It can wait a day or two.

Then I have to figure out how to get a cage over her without her coming unglued again..........Anyone want to volunteer to help with that?

They were four weeks Saturday, my broody hatched them :) and I'm getting more chicks tomorrow! But these will be purebred Cochin bantams, already thinking about names.
My brooder is all set up too! SO much easier with a broody hen but I only have one and I doubt her chicks and her will like the new littles. When are you getting yours? You don't know?

Okay, turns out we are not getting the chicks today :( we will get them Friday. Aragh! I hate waiting!

Where did you get those from?

I got them from Gun dog supply they were cheaper than Amazon.

I got a gob of them ( gob is an official number in the Banana belt). Shipping was $5.95 I think I had them in 2 days.

They are nice you can access them from the outside and there is very little water spillage which means I can get an extra day or two out of the diaper pad before it stinks! Saves me money, increases space in the cage both!

Ahh I thought maybe Clear Lake... Thanks.

Do they get the chicks from Hoovers?

BTW my hatch is progressing well...

Here I the picture of the new waterers, I am loving them so far. They are so much less hassle and dryer in the cage!

Yes Hoover's delivers to Heim's Mill & Gilman Co-Op Creamery. I'm really interested in the watering bottles you have....these look like they would be convenient for County Fairs.

I think I am going to put them on all my cages. I am trying to think of how I will keep them from freezing next winter when I start hatching though...

Clear Lake Feed mill sells Heim's feed and gets chicks from Hoover as does Martie's. I was just curious, that have pretty huge market share up here,
