Surviving Minnesota!

I have a question i hope you all can help with. I am in Elk River so i am looking in this area specifically. I have 12 broilers i have successfully raised to almost 4 weeks so far.
In another month i am going ot have to harvest these birds. Does anyone know of a place i can rent a plucker or does anyone in my area want to rent me THEIR plucker? I really don't want to do this by hand if possible. Hubby is looking into making one but we are so busy with work and gardening and getting coops and runs done that there hasn't been time as of yet. Thanks for any replies ahead of time. Laurie

Holm, I doubt you're ever wrong! Let me know if you ever need a compliment, pat on the back, or ego boost. I'm trying to butter you up to gain a step ahead of Ralphie for Mr. T =)

I didn't really know what to think with the comb and waddles. Never owned the breed before. I have 7 chicks with rose combs right now and those are always tough for me. One of my little GLWs already has reddish waddles at 4 weeks. Those I always have to let ride out until I hear a crow or it's pretty dang obvious.

LOL! We will have to see. Ralph has been in love with him for a long time!

I have a plucker. but for just 12 birds I would do them by hand, well maybe not, that is on the edge of making the clean up of the plucker worth it. Cleaning them .... well you know.... If they are CX's the feathers will almost fall out if you dunk in the hot water then into cold so the skin fixes. Might take two dunks, I learned the hard way a cold water dunk does wonder. It stops the skin from ripping and when you pull you get all feathers...

Also if you do not want my little one the Hardware Store in Zimmerman has a Large one they rent. I have no idea how much it is though.

@Siggie I love the look of recycled but it is harder to work with. Pulling old nails. Cutting and puzzle piecing boards. Filling holes. Bending metal against it's will. New materials are def much easier to work with-- Less labor intensive. I did it this way because I am cheap. Lol. Plus I like what I like and am stubborn with my visions. It was one of the hardest most overwhelming things I've ever done, honestly. Lost 17 lbs. d*** I should build another...

Are you sure they are not just saddle broke moose?
I thought this is so funny. Ralphie, look at your picture on the side of the post after you read what you said. Look at the chicks head.
