Surviving Minnesota!

I love the fact that we have to clarify which direction from 0 we are talking about for temperatures.

It is 2:30 and I have 26 (above) but wind has it feeling like 14 so says weather.com

I was out for a couple hours around noon and I thought (again) it does not feel like he 29 degrees the thermometer says it is!

BTW I am thinking I might be losing a CX hen... She is not as active as I think she should be and is spending a lot of time sitting in one place in the coop. BUT she is 8 months old and I have no illusions about how long their lives are. That is one of the reasons I added Rainbows into the toads mix. Also I hope by using the eggs as long as I can from the CX's I will get the better (longevity genes).

If it has a reset button/light it is most likely a ground fault or Arc protection breaker. If it is GFI, you are getting feedback through the system. Something is not grounded or water is in the system...

If it is AFCI then you have a wire nut that or screw that is just a tad loose and it is "arcing" for a mirco second..

OR the breaker is old and weak and you just over loaded the circuit.

OK yay! It was a simple fix...the kind that make you feel dumb...but you learn about the quirks in your house!!!

The AFCI Breaker switch was okay. (thank goodness) So we traced the circuit from the bathroom through my daughter's room. Checking for power in the outlets and plug-ins. All were good. We get to my son's room (under a long camoflage curtain) was a GFI plug in tripped! My retired electrician was giggling and wondering why a GFI was in a bedroom. Before it was a bedroom it was a cement basement and for safety we had put one on the outer wall in case of basement water and the need for a humidifier and the such. Pushed the GFI button and VOILA! we had lights.

For Pete's sake!!!!

But relieved as well. About an hour and 20 minutes of fiddle farting around...but now I know a sneaky secret about my house.

I might be wrong, but we all know that is not possible, but don't all outlets below grade level have to be a GFI regardless of the use of the room?

However, rumor has it someone that hatches eggs for fun has an unapproved non-GFI line going to is incubators..

I don't know....must not...?

When we built the house the electrician asked my husband what our intent was there and we decided on just one for a dehumidifier if we had moisture issues. IDK... poop from siccum on electrical code. But I'm sure those boys would have known...

And it passed Mr. Fancy Suburban Pant's inspection...probably.

Edited to add that the basement is a walk out basement on one side of the building so maybe we were exempt of that...?

No idea.. all I know is the fancy pants citified inspector I had to have checked every wire in the basement to make sure they were on a GFI... He was overly anal about it,, BUT I always follow the rules....until he signs the inspection forms anyways...LOL LOL LOL

Is there a way for me to tell what egg came from a hen on a certain day without separating the hen? I want to discern which eggs are from my CX hen

So anyone deal with a septic inspection . I have installed 2 systems in IL . No problems . I wonder who does them in Cass county . Please not the county environmental . Dealt with Tammy a few times . I know she is gone . But still a bad taste . She was dating the guy that worked for the power company . Every time the power company truck came down the road Tammy showed up within 2 hours . Could not do any work without a hassle .

Where we live in southern MN it is the county planning and zoning office that is in charge of that
