Surviving Minnesota!

I finally got myself going and got outside to do work. shoveled a coop scrapped off some snow drifts that were piling up and spent a little time with the kitties. It is quite a bitter wind!!

CHeck out my winter molter! this chicken looks so rough!

She looks bad!!

I thought I had one that looked bad!! Yours is way worser and worser......

Yeah, I know worser is not a word. BUT I like it.
SHe has been naked since i got her from another farm this summer. we picked up a few 1 year old BAs that needed a new home. they had way way way too many roosters and she was picked bare. i kept waiting for her to grow back and it just started last week

THe other hens have been protecting her on the roost. it is all very cool to see them care about eachother

Wait, as I re-read it it appears the wafer is the better method over the newer controller.

Wafers are a very old technology and hard to beat . The old kerosene incubators Grandma used had them .

I should have gotten that one.

This is the one I got

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Herpstat-1-...459251?hash=item4af8207f73:g:JukAAOSw7ThUclEW

and this is the probe for it:

But like I said I have the extra wafer and I am not going to even think about putting this in until I can work out all the kinks and reverse it if I do not like the way it works.

The one I got works great . Down side is the wires need to be single strand as multi strand from your incubator are hard to keep clamped in . Chinese markings on connect screws . English is poor . I found better instructions online .

I found that too! I was going to post the instruction sheet her for someone to read to me!

The herpstat came with both but they were written I think by someone with Chinese as a second language translating Chinese from the first language through French and Spanish before hitting English..

I found the stuff online an R2Elk from the turkey thread was extremely helpful.

I finished changing the actuator on my truck today . Working great . Tight spot to work in .

I put my EE cockerel in with 2 EE hens . They are getting red faced . Hens are kind of silver and the cockerel is columbian pattern carrying silver and gold . Egg production has picked up this week . Longer days are helping .
