What a day!

I want 50 more like this and then on the first day of Spring it can start to warm up.

I moved the PC girls tonight to their breeding coop. They are not exactly what you would call, use to being handled. The first one just shook all the way there. I kept telling her it would be ok. But she just shivered and watched me. She was happy to be out of my hands, I can not say she liked the new coop.

I went back and got the other PC girl. She was more vocal and tried to escape by flapping her wings a few times. All the way over there she was making a low sound, It really did sound like she was mumbling " I don't like this". When I told her it would be ok, she just kept on muttering.

Ed was not real happy with me taking his girls. He made no move to come at me but did vocalize his unhappiness. I had decided I have too many blue egg EE and not enough greens and olives. So I took two EE with me. One was that new pullet with the blue earlobes and then a penciled one. I know the blue earlobe one lays blue eggs, the other I have no idea. When I took the last of the 4 girls out of ED's coop he was standing at the door watching me. He actually came outside a few feet, again he made no move but he assessed the whole situation. The last one out squawked like I was killing her the whole way to the new coop. Sometimes I wish I had lappers instead of the ones I have.

Judy was home today, naturally, it was good entertainment. She swept, really swept chickens and turkeys off the deck about 4 times with a broom. I laughed so hard! She was not happy with my reaction to her. Even the guinea hens were on the deck and she chased them off! After the third time she decided to shut the gate we have to keep grand kids from falling off the deck. (and to keep the dogs on the deck). I told her it would not work. It didn't, I laughed. She yelled at innocent me.

I also think I owe Coffee a refund of her money on Porter. She paid too much for him. He is damaged in the head. He flew up onto the deck after the last time Judy swept the birds off. The other toms went to hang out by their pen. Porter was dismayed at this. He first gobbled than started pacing back and forth doing that nervous " something is wrong" noise turkeys make. This went on for over an hour, I think he had worked himself up so much he was foaming at the mouth like a rabid dog, Ony he was not showing his teeth.

I finally felt sorry for him and went and opened the gate. He flies up onto the deck, and he is too stupid to fly over the railing to get down! When I opened the gate he kept up pacing he would go from the corner of the deck and then towards the gate/stairs. He would stop about 2 feet from the stairs turnaround and pace back to the corner. This went on for another 45 minutes or so. I did not mention how much this action reminded me of something Judy;s sisters would do. I ain't all dumb!

I finally chased him off the deck when I put the Toms to bed for the night. All in all a great day, got a lot done and did not have to wear insulated coveralls!

OH and I got a 103 gram egg, from Bertha ( the toads). Double yolk so I am not going to hatch it. BUT it is larger than a turkey egg!

We have one Creamette out of the shell and more hatching. I am hoping for all creamettes and no creamers! I heard them peeping this morning and they did not come out until 5:30 this afternoon.

So another 49 creamettes and I will have my orders filled. Mid march I hope to have my first PC's hatched.

Ohh Porter ,, I will make him his own porch connected to his house and he can roost all he wants.. do you think he would like stairs or a ramp built??

Moved some roosters after dark . Getting ready for the next gentleman in waiting in 2 pens .

I was going to move Ed tonight, but I decided to wait 2 weeks or so to move him in with the PC girls. I like having him out and about looking after the rest. But I would hate to lose him now when I need him so much too...

Mmmmm Maybe I should go move him and let another rooster move up the ranks.
