If it is not we will have to start commitment proceedings....

I volunteer for commitment to a sunny (it can be windows) mental health facility for four weeks. Additionally, I would like to take my sewing machine, fabrics, patterns, apparatus. Then the books I want to read. Then the articles, magazines, books I want to study. Oh! and my lap top to let you guys know how it is going. Someone to serve me meals. People to talk about the weather with and allllll the horrible things that happened to me while growing up. Oh! Actually, I am grown up and don't need to talk about the past.

So DW and I rediscussed adding more laying hens to our flock this year and still think we should. Still deciding what kinds but I think we will do speckled Sussex, a few brown leghorns, and some barred rocks at least. We like the diversity in the flock. Maybe a few red hybrids. We have 1 gold comet and she is one of our favorite hens.

Frozen eggs are back!!!!

I have TWO cracked creamette egg. I have not looked that close at the rest yet.

On the good side, I opened the slide to the SS nest and there is a SS girl sitting in it! Maybe 2 days in a row of SS eggs!

Edited to change one cracked egg to two,

Do you only want brown eggs?

I had a black star that was an amazing layer and she was super sweet! I love the diversity in the flock as well!! How exciting talking about adding more hens!

You forgot to indicate that this is sarcasm!

Well..................I happen to be one of the rare few that LOVE winter and snow. I probably should have been born an Inuit or something of the like. Any temp over 70 makes me really uncomfortable and heat and humidity is completely intolerable for me. Spring here in my part of the woods means nothing but wet, muddy, yucky clothes and boots for months on end. Getting to and from the house is a chore, actually an extreme sport. Rubber boots are the only things we can wear and loose them half the time in the muck. Yeah, I would like to skip spring. Then I have to wait an eternity for the water to recede from the garden in order to plant.

Yep, we had frozen eggs here too. Bummer!! And the birds are refusing to go outside so the attempt to keep them entertained indoors has begun again. Frustrating!

We want mostly brown eggs as that is what our customers want. We like the brown leghorns for eye candy plus once in a while we get requests for white eggs.
