Surviving Minnesota!

When we were kids, Holm's age" every cow had a name, but we always called " come boss" or "bossy" if we wanted them to come..  I could tell you some of the pet names my Dad use to have for the  cows during milking time.  He used these names when one kicked, or swatted him across the face with a wet poop filled tail..

I am afraid to use the actual pet names would get me put back on double secret probation again... BTW Bellybutton was NOT one of the names...

Jerry  your Creamette eggs look greenish are they more green than blue or is the photo off.  I have all blue eggs from the CLB's but I get one green one.

Ours dont have any names that cant be said... But they have probably been called names that cant be said... Like when your milking and Lady the Jersey kicks the pail over when its half full...

Its horrible!!

The bottom chicks are probably pullet in the group of 5 . Egg color on the Legbar eggs are slightly greenish . That will change in the pullets that are 1/4 brown Leghorn . Ear lobe color should be whiter also .

Do you think there is a relationship between ear lobe color and egg color?

I have seen some people get extremely adamant both sides of the argument on those threads that get upset with me for using the term "creamette".... however they get more upset if you type "Crested cream Legbar" in case you're bored and want to poke the sleeping dog a little...

Also I am afraid my Black EE has too much BA in her, I have not gotten a green. olive or blue egg out of the coop she is in with the 3 BA's, yet.

I got my first egg of 2016 from the BLRW on Saturday. She must have liked that Sunshine! And February 27th is the latest I have ever needed to wait for an egg in the year!!! Usually its beginning of February. New Hens are definitely on the radar for this spring.
Only 2 of my girls have started laying, bunch of free loaders! Btw, she is gorgeous!

I am being extremely lazy today, BUT I am saving my energy incase I decide to go to a caucus tonight.

It is just too cold to go outside today.. BUT I did go check for eggs. My SS have not laid an egg in 3 days, any idea why? I let them out of the tractor the other day and they have not laid since. King George has turned grumpy again. If I walk close to the tractor he growls and me and runs towards the wire. Which is weird because he has never attacked me when he is loose. He has feinted but never carried through on it. As soon as I get a replacement for him, I am going to pack his little suitcase and point him towards Nowthen. Maybe even make a little sign that says " Aussiegal's or bust" to put on his neck.....

I actually think I might try to find some good breeder quality SS's this year, I do like them other than King George's occasional temper tantrum.

Put a sign on the road. I m going to have to get mine up again.  Judy is saving 10 dozen know for a gal in Maple Grove with about 4 dozen kids.  But I am getting more we can use or I can hatch.

We could do that... But like five people drive down that road a day!!

Ralph there is a person in Riceville Iowa who breeds Specjled Sussex. Their name is Kristin Christianson. They r the closest peopke who breed them.
