Surviving Minnesota!

Good News:

Sadie is on her way back from Vet with DH as I type with just swelling around her internal stitches. I thought for sure that odd lump was intestine. But I guess it is not. All is well. Thank God. I needed a break. And I got it.

It's gorgeous out there. I'm waiting on the rain to remove more snow. But so far there's nothing on the horizon. may be a little hazy in the west...but not real promising looking.

Poor Sadie being falsely accused of ripping her stitches out just walking around the yard, doing nothing wrong....

Remember back in the late winter early spring of 2016 when she was falsely accused of eating eggs out of the coop?

I'm sure I will be taking some heat from DH on burning that gas and time down to the Vet.

Sad thing of it is, is that I'll probably be worrying about Grandma, Dog and Chickens the whole time.

My Muscovy hen is making a nest!! But its in a wood pile... Idc she can brood a clutch in there. Minnesotanice u might have sone baby Muscovys by the middle of April!!

Ralphie I have been asking about the color cream on The Classroom AT THE COOP . Most of my crosses have males that look cream , I got my answer and cream is a autosomal recessive . That is to say it is not sex linked like silver . I suspect someone ( likely show people ) have slipped silver into the mix . Since cream was a true breeding replacement for golden Duckwing which does not breed true . I have been suspicous of these silver looking males that everyone seems to prefer . The Rees male in the picture sent me searching . I can now test this theory by test breeding .

No, April is fine. I was kidding! Well, it is true I have to wait for the ground to thaw out a bit to get permanent home for them built. They'll be in the garage for awhile anyways.

That Rees rooster is why I asked all those questions today. It did not look Cream legbar at all to me!!! Looked like some exotic crested Silver bird.
