Surviving Minnesota!

It was 'clean the coffee pot day' today and it still isn't working right. I will do it again and hopefully it will brew some freakin' coffee in less than 30 mins!!!

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and replies! Thought you might like to see some photos.

The ground was still frozen when we got the chicken coop complete with chickens. Had to pop the chicken coop loose with the skid steer, drag it out to the road and load it on a trailer. Then when we got home, I found a ditch to drive the trailer into and unloaded on the main road. Used the tractor to drag it across a field and up by the house. Built a run using some treated posts that I had laying around. I'm going to build a new coop and a new and larger run when I have the time. For now this is the best we could do because we only had about a day's notice that some people were giving this to us.

Oh, and the inside photo was taken before we cleaned. We cleaned everything and put new straw in for them.

We have a silkie rooster and a silkie hen. The rest of the hens we were told are a "heritage breed". Not sure yet what they are. We have 12 hens total.

If you are getting white eggs, the white hens are leghorns. The black one in the front could be a Black Australorp?

Hi Bobcat - that looks like a pretty good set up. When you have time (maybe you already did this) post more pictures and people (not me) will tell you what kind of chicken you have. There is a TON of experienced chickeners on this thread. Welcome to you.

Congrats Holm! I had a huge chick hatch last year that was a little brute. He's the rooster I kept. He was always stepping on all the other chicks! I had to take him out of the bator right away.

@MNBobcat , sweet combo deal of coop and chickens!
