Surviving Minnesota!

Crazy day today,,,Huge car crash right by farm house I watched car roll about 3 times hit some trees and landed in a ditch upside down. Me and and a friend Steve ran over to it and Steve was lifting the car up with some other guy that seen it and there was a baby crying. It's car seat was upside down and the mother was trying to get baby out but she was freaking out . So I climbed in while they were holding the car up and got the baby and then the mother finally made it out the window. I had blood all over me but I knew it wasn't mine. Someone called 911 . I checked the baby and blood wasn't hers either , it was all from the mother, I made mother sit down and I just kept rocking the baby. I can't believe Steve and that guy lifted the car. It wasn't a small car.. I can't believe i jumped in the dang thing without thinking about it.. Baby was fine I held her to ambulance got there and I couldn't stop hugging and kissing her. The Mother said she was texting and didn't realize she crossed over into the oncoming traffic lane and then went into the ditch. She was in her early 20's.. It could have been so much worse .. Thank God for blessings..

I think it is good, out of 5 chickens I've only gotten 5 eggs once. I usually get 2-4 when everyone is laying. right now I'm getting 1-3, but only 3 or 4 are laying.

OMG Coffee! that is unbelievable! Wow, and great job to all of you! Hope everyone heals up good. Poor baby! Why oh why do people continue to text and drive! it is maddening, I see it on my commute every day, they are so dangerous! They are all over the road but they don't even know it!

I have 17 chickens, one is a roo, and four are chicks, that's 12. One hen has never layed, one hen is broody and taking care of the chicks, that's 10. Two are five years old and don't lay anymore, that's eight chickens I have that lay right now. I normally get 3 (lowest) to 7 (highest) eggs a day, usually 5-6.

Here are some pics of new coop.. Still some work to be done but it looks good so far..

Sad day here

. We lost a cow... She was laying uphill last night and was in the same spot this morning. So my grandpa kept his eye on her and eventually went inside for lunch. When he came out 1½-2 hours later he found her dead. So he quick got the tractor and brought the body out to the hay field and opened her up hoping to save the calf but it was to late

Sorry to hear this Holm! I have read about that on the internet and books. Really too bad!

Too bad about the heifer Holm, but that is life on the farm sometimes.
Coffee, hats off to you and the others that assisted in the tragedy! I would think that you have had more than your share of drama for the year already? Very nice coop by the way.
