Surviving Minnesota!

Zeus update. He has been doing good but I think he is traumatized. We brought him back to the coop after he started crowing and he runs to the brush pile every time he gets put down. Last night my grandpa saw him half way up the wood pile so he grabbed him and set him down. He went right to eating and then went to jumping at the coop door and flying at the window to get in. He will only come out when the pthers go inside. We didnt let him inside the coop so he went back to the pile. We r scared to put him right into the coop without us there so he can go back in the coop when he starts coming out and scratching with everyone so they get aquainted again before being locked in the coop together.

On a better note I put 70+ eggs in the incubator. I cant fit anymore in there. Turning each one is gonna be hard but I think I can manage.

Sorry Zeus has PTSD, he is such a good looking rooster. Hope things get better soon. Is MR. T gone? he was the assaulter right?

Good morning all! Hand is feeling much better today but getting all kinds of gawky looks from my coworkers due to the bandages. I may be watering down the story a bit for them so I don't look like an idiot haha

I am starting to get very excited for chicks. They will ship tomorrow and arrive Wednesday mirning

Mr. T is still here but lives outside the rum and coop till he goes. Not taking any chances of him hurting the poor guy again. I think Ralph needs to open up a chicken therapy center so I can bring Zeus to a few sessions.

Burns are so painful!!!

BTW, I always told my kids when they did something like you did, "Weak mind and the whole body suffers".

BTW I then had to hope they did not see me do the dumb thing.

Just an idea Holms - maybe he needs his own safe area, fenced off from all the others but in the same area - ya know - like they do with adding chicks to a flock so they can all get used to each other again.

I did put the two CLB Roos, in their brooder, out in the coop with a brooder light (its been cold at night - water freezing) and they seem to be doing fine. I think the plastic box gives good protection and the heat lamp keeps it warm enough. They are five to six weeks old now and mostly feathered. They are too darn stinky to keep in the house any longer.

Have two coops now. Tom Hanks, Gilda, Tess and Helen, each a year old, are in the one smaller run/coop. Left the two reds with the brooder and the two little guys in the big run. After I clean it all out really good, scrub down that coop, and it is warmer at night (end of April maybe) the SS and six other new chicks can go out in the big coop. Plans, Plans, Plans. My head hurts. LOL

Those are some beautiful bantams you have Violet! I think u got the genders right.

Thanks! :D I feather sexed them, even though it supposedly doesn't work on bantams and only works if you have a slow feathering dad and a fast feathering female. It will be great if there's only one boy.

Hope Zues is feeling better!
