Surviving Minnesota!

My first load of chicks comes tomorrow morning!

Good luck on them!

All CX's or mixed?

I think I am going to pass on CX's this year. Judy really does not want me to get any. As much as I like having them, they do tie me down so I cannot go to the cabin. They cannot be left with a gob of feed and water for couple days like other chickens can.

That is so much better!!

I was wondering how they thought we could get snow here in the Banana belt?

I plant Pineapples on good Friday every year.

That's great! Could we see a picture of him?

Ralphie, I think that your Cream Legbar rooster is shooting the wrong type of bullets? If this continues you will have a bumper crop of light weight fryers this year and not need any CX. The little guys should be good smoked?

Ralphie, I forgot to inquire if you knew what Greenfire Farms was charging for their Cream Legbar chicks? Just in case you don't I will tell you. $19 for male chicks and $29 for female chicks. Have a nice day!

Thanks..
I knew most places were charging around 30 bucks for hens, I thought 15 for roosters. I have been selling roosters for 5, except to those on here I have given them too...and Hens I am now at 15.

Did you see what they are charging for the white sports? I never thought to check Greenfire itself, I checked other places.

I had another egg hatch while I was out. Another BOY!!!

However, in Birds it is the female that controls the sex unlike in mammals. The male gives Z gene and the female a W or Z gene. Males are ZZ female WZ.. Unless I have the letters backwards.

The odds of 16 males to 3 females has got to be up there. I am thinking of getting a lottery ticket today.

BTW How many light weight fryers do you want EJB? I have about 50 to pick from.
