Surviving Minnesota!

@KlopKlop
how are the chicks this morning?
How much snow did you get there?

Chicks are doing well. Had to wipe 2 or 3 poopy butts but nothing close to a pasty butt. Just dirty fluff. They are all still lively and happy and healthy. Super cute for sure!

Sorry to let you down on posts ralphie, between chick chores, big bird chores, dealing 10" of snow (That came AFTER they said it was "done") plus tending seedlings and preparing the fodder for today.... I just didn't have time! The good news is that today is supposed to be upper 30s, tomorrow 40s, 50s and sun this weekend! So this snow is going going, soon to gone!

I just hope this isn't hurting my garlic that is already up. I really want my garlic to do well!

Hey Ralphie, IF I keep two Welsummers, you take two Welsummers and BogTown takes a Welsummer . . . . . . . . . I would only have six other birds to find homes for. Then I could keep my Cackles order due the Middle of May and not cancel it.

I would still have 3 Easter Eggers and 3 Red Laced Wyandottes to sell off. Buy hey, that is way better than having all 15 to add to my laird.

Just saying.

Cloudy and light rain here today . Down to 27 tonight . Sold 4 sets of hatching eggs . I have enough eggs to fill 3 orders . The other one is for 24 so I have to wait for the girls to fill the order . Planted peas yesterday . Getting anxious to grow things . Scion / grafting wood arrived the other day . Waiting on root stocks to arrive soon . Dug up 3 flowering pear seedlings and potted them in 5 gal root pouch pots . Going to bring them in to wake up so I can graft them . They need to be active to heal . You can get by on dormant grafting apples as they start growth early . Just not too early . Fruiting pear flowers are swelling and showing a little white so another week or two for blooming .

I am going to want around 5 welsummers , maybe even 6, 2 roosters and 4 hens. And without trying to sound snobbish, I was going to get show quality birds and not hatchery...( dang that sounds snobbish to me even)

I have EE up the ying yang and am hatching several every week. I have a line on some Welsummers from Whitmore Farms. They look like good birds but then they could be lying to me too.

Life is good, I am going to pick up a second Incubator tomorrow!!!!

Judy even said " fine go get the **** thing"......

I am so happy when I get her approval.

What kind!!??

Well..not the kind I showed a picture of yesterday...

I found another 1202, Which actually makes sense because I bought extra egg trays, heating filament and a fan for it incase the one I have fails. I also have the spare parts EJB gave me and a new electronic thermostat if I want to change out the front wafer.

Besides there is no way I can fill up two 1202's......

Ralphie, you must have promised something to get Judy to approve of that. Those types of compromise don't just happen?
With the directions to your cabin as posted I suspect I may be led into the wilderness to fend for myself with the Sasquatchs?

Is the new incubator for setting or for hatching?

I now see your response to Holm's inquiry. With a second 1202 you can seriously hatch quite a number of eggs. Are hatching most of the eggs in the foam units, or is the hatching happening in the 1202s?
