They do not fly very well . When crossed to Muscovy they fly really well . Sterile hybrids but great meat birds . My Muscovy drake is white . White is best as the pin feathers do not show so much . None of these hens have laid yet . Soon I hope . You can sometimes get a Muscovy to use a nest box on a pole . Harder for predators . Mine usually went under a shed in the past . Coons always get those . Coyotes grab the free range adults . With the new dog I just may try again .
I'm going to get a few Muscovy from Holm and I have to remember to clip them after a few months. We'd like to keep them around, but still be able to let them out to do their thing and hang out in the pond next to our house.
They had some Pekins when I picked up my Khaki ducklings and I thought about it.....juuuust thought about it! I didn't feel I knew enough about them to be compulsive. I love your African Geese, Holm! They're so pretty.
I can't get over how huge they look next to your geese! My ducks are dwarfed by the geese.
Fun! Is your goose still laying? Thanks! I hope to hatch enough goslings and ducklings this year to get a pair of Giant Dewlap Toulouse geese or maybe some Sebastopols.
It's a improvement!I am sitting here thinking the thread took an ugly turn.......
Everywhere I look I see ducks! flying floating flu factories, that smell bad and mess the waterers........
