Surviving Minnesota!

Yes - its on Wednesdays at the beach from 3 to 7 I believe. I think is it expensive. last year there was a guy selling organic, non gmo eggs for $4.50 or $5.00 a dozen. There is NO middle man involved. Why do they think they can get the same prices as in the store. I go to a farmers market to reduce my expenses. And the honey man that grows his honey right here in BL Twnsp - same price as the stores too.
Jerry, you have given a very good secret away to the uninformed plant lovers. It is a good way to save time and money.
By the way, this is no April fools joke. It is snowing quite enthusiastically here, about 1/2 inch and piling up. Ralphie send some of that Banana Belt weather up here!!
This prolonged winter weather is bovine schieze as far as I am concerned!!

I have a problem with a weasel, and thus far have not caught him. The last time I had a problem with one he made the mistake of going into the garage. I waited for him to come out, and when he did I blasted him with a 12 guage. Luckily no pellets ricocheted into my wife's Escalade, or I would not be around to tell about this episode. Even so she thought it poor judgment to shoot onto the concrete in front of her vehicle. I told her no fowl no harm.

Phew! At first I thought that you were referring to us 'cheap' plant buyers as weasels - LOL.

Oh Ed. A 12 Ga shot near the Escalade.....?! What WERE you thinking? Holy Shizzle. I'm pretty sure the deductible at the body shop is more than the Weasel Pelt.

God help the vermin that goes after your birds.

Seriously Klops, what time and where and what do you have besides tomato (I would want 12) and green pepper (I would want 6) and RALPHIE would you like some that I could pick up for you too?

I am not ready yet, I am having compost delivered to hide my sandlot garden. I never expected to be able to plant this early. I assume the compost will come in next couple weeks, but once I get it I need to work it in, so like I said I am a month behind already.

Thanks for the offer..

EJB. My luck would have been to pepper the Escalade and have every pellet miss the weasel.

I am assuming your DW did not see you aiming at the weasel. Had she I doubt you would have gotten the shot off before she beaned you with something..

Jerry, I never knew that about tomatoes! I will only be buying one plant this year!

I sell at the farmers market in Owatonna. It is Saturday morning (starting May 7th) and starts about 7am or so.

The kinds of tomatoes I have are:
Red Brandywine
Pineapple
Chocolate Cherry
San Marzano
Roma

The peppers I have are:
California wonder bells (green but will turn red if you leave them on the bush long enough)
Red Marconi (sweet red Italian pepers good for canning)

Unfortunately my jalepenos were a flop (tried a new source this year with no luck) I got 1 plant out of 25 plugs with 2 seeds per plug!

I may plant more jalepenos if I can find a good source and am also thinking of trying to get some Sweet 100 tomatoes in as well as a late addition.

Kloppers for next year write down: Cherokee Purples and Green Zebra Tomatoes. OMGosh are they sweet. The cherokee purple I can eat like a peach. They are that good. I also LOVE the little yellow pear cherry tomatoes and the Amana Orange...sp? tomatoes...the latter are a double so very meaty tomato. The last few years I've got into growing different varieties of basil. It is so much fun.

Now I'm itching to get my hands in some dirt. It is rock solid right now though.

@jerryse --Craig Lake (Lake by the Airport) has went out. I wonder if your spot is close or ready to go...? Heading over that way for coffee Sunday. Maybe I'll drive across the County Rd. and sneak a peek.

Would you mind driving up to Togo and checking out the lakes up there for me?

I have been grafting indoors this morning . Dark and rainy here . Should stop soon so they say . Got both packages yesterday and another today . Haskap or honey berries today . More fruit for the lake . Hardy to zone 2 . Nicer plants than other starts I have in the past . I know about the service berries and the other names for it . Planted a couple here last year . 2 different species that should take our heat better . Not many sources in the US for improved service berry . Mostly a Canadian thing on improved ones . BC a lake report would be great .
