Surviving Minnesota!

Okay I've changed my mind.

You see one bad bunny and you're willing to give up on all bunnies?

Ralphie have you tried trimming the vent feathers on the PC ? They may be too fluffy .

I have not,, Trim the hens feathers?

I have never heard of this!! Thank you, thank you thank you...

I am going to go give two broody hens a feather cut right now! Maybe I should trim all the breeders vent feathers just to help the hatch rate...Will it help?

My DW wants to know how much I am going to make her cut from the chickens butt?

Night, the Cochin/brahma bantam pullet. She is getting so fluffy! Just like her mom (the Cochin) (which I s what I was hoping for).

Pecan, buff brahma bantam pullet

Almond, Mille Fluer/brahma bantam cockerel. His name got changed to Alfredo because my geography teacher wanted to and we will sell him/give him away eventually.

And I don't have any recent pics of Nights brother, hawk.

OMG!!!

I Just spit my soda water!!

I went and searched trimming vents, I was reading a thread and it said "use eyebrow scissors. I read it out loud after having told my wife Jerry says to trim the vents.

She asked how short and with what, I excitedly said "Use Eyebrow Scissors!"...

Her face turned white she stared at me and said "NO, that's the last straw you go buy your own!"...

Trim both sexes . It is a pet peeve of mine . I feel animals should reproduce without help . People create breeds that need help . Trim enough for good contact .

Why do you trim anyway?

so I am a little peeved with Hoovers right now. I have an order of 50 CXs due this thursday (shipped wednesday). I took the day off work and all. This weekend I get an email saying that there was some unexpected yada yada yada and now they are shipping tuesday. A bit of a hassle but oh well. Now at 5:30 i just get shipping confirmation from USPS!! last shipment that meant they were already in the mail when i get the email!

i give Hoovers a call and wouldnt you know it they close at 4 and I need to wait until tomorrow and call back!

i dont know if I need to pull some strings so i can be at the post office at 830 tomorrow morning or if that just means they printed the shipping label a day early??? Of course the USPS site is not up to date. last time it didnt even update to say they were on the way until i already had picked them up.

what to do!?!?!?!?

You trim to help fertility . On fluffy birds the extra fluff is a physical barrier . On most chicken breeds it is not a problem . The birds can open the feathers during breeding . Too many feathers and they get in the way . Often a problem on show Quality birds as extra feathers make the bird look heavier than it really is .
