Surviving Minnesota!

Kloppers: Any further griping may just fall on deaf ears. Save yourself the frustration of getting more wrapped up in it. They think they did a fabulous job of getting you chicks faster than you expected. Their own perception is that they gave highly fast and competent service. Even though missing a few communication pieces which you have now brought to their attention. I say just let it go and chalk it up to dealing with shipment of live critters. I'm glad you were able to work out the time to go get them. Sweet things. I love seeing those White Popcorn balls in a brooder.

sleep is a good thing also. I've been not sleeping the best. Went to bed early too. Woke up to Chewed up shredded tennis balls in the living room. Dishes stacked high. Dishwasher not emptied of it's clean dishes. Requests to iron 3 shirts for the rest of the week. No buckets left to take down water and feed to my coop because they're shredded into a million pieces in the yard. Pseudo-potty trained dog messes on the cement floor in the basement. Blah blah blah. I'm going to take a Mom vacation I think. The hunters can take care of the hunting dog from now on...I informed DH of this new deal. He did not look pleased to hear it this morning. Welcome to my world.

I worked a 14hr shift yesterday and asked DH to give the ducklings and chicks fresh water. I was met with complaints for a task that would take 1 minute. I'm on strike. You should go on strike as well =)

Didn't Aussie have a ton of issues with her hatchery orders last year? I think they came late, then early. On top of that, they sent her the wrong breeds and quantities if I remember right.

When I picked out some Barred Rock chicks last Friday, it stated 90% females. I was like GREAT, my luck will be getting the 10% roosters. I only grabbed two and crossed my fingers.....

Minnesotanice if u post pics of the chicks backs and leg front I bet I could sex them. One of my BYC friends breeds BRs and I learnt how to sex them!

Cool, thanks! I found a few great threads on here about sexing BR's, but am still scratching my head. It all seems to come down to the legs. I'll post some pictures when I get home tonight.

@duluthralphie , you could probably use your beard trimmer for trimming down the vent fluff. Just trying to throw out some ideas.....

I just got those pop bottle waterers and took the old waterers out of my indoor chicks cages, replaced them with the pop bottle ones. They are causing quite a stir in Chickville. None of them have been brave enough to touch them yet, but they are checking them out.. It is so fun to watch them.....Reminds me of when we would tell employees we were going to change something...... it was a collective "what change?? why""" the chicks body language says the same thing.

Kidding on the trimmer! I'm glad you agree. Lol

Did you put the nipples on the pop bottles?

Yeah I'm slowly getting over it. Early arrival is good if I'm talking about some junk I bought off eBay but when it comes to live chicks... On time is best :) any ways I'm just happy to have chicks.

It sounds like you could use a retreat. I do my best not to be the hubby that has to be nagged after but I'm not perfect. DW is pretty patient with me fortunately.
