Surviving Minnesota!

AMEN! We need three building permits if construction is to happen. Fortunately there is no more property to build on as we must be above the 100 year flood plaine. Plus we need permits from the DNR (because of the river) The township and the Highway department. Then there was a variance of like $1,200 to build anything larger than 120 sq feet and no guarantee that it would be issued. DH would like to rebuild the garage (it needs it) and add a second floor to it also. I think it will look weird. Oh well, if he decides that it should be it will be done. There are worse things in life to endure.

A rake-- chivalry is not dead. Poor Judy.

Chooks are out. I did a speedy pajama run. Had to stop and admire the cleanliness of my yard. It seems I have become used to torn up cool whip bowls and kemps buckets to navigate my way to the coop. The clean yard had me stopped in my tracks.
I was so inspired I even picked up a pile of old foam board Roger and the girls had been snacking on. Got that put away.

Today/this evening I have teenager sports/ practices to run for. I want more yard time right now...

Good morning chickeners. It is nice out. The chickens are taken care of and our bed made. I am caught up on SM, drinking my morning apple cider/honey medication. That, for me, is alot already. Stimulated by the warm weather.

Ralphie, you are very kind with you comments. I NEVER thought of this property as all that nice. YOU are changing that mind. It happened bit-by-bit. and I like IVIE. It is a little more interesting than LVIE.

I have been told that it is good fishing in the bend. Northerns and of course, carp. Its not really deep below us but the bend becomes four to six feet. I have never fished it. You are welcome to stop for coffee anytime. We will sit outside and watch the river pass by. Sometimes, when I am working outside, I do a campfire (the pit is on a patio behind the garage) just because I take my breaks so I can relax while watching it. Love the smell. Whatever you are comfortable with because I know when you (or anyone) are 'on task' taking a break can be annoying.

Its spose to be 15 - 25 mph wind from the south. Better get the dogs out for their walk. Also, I put plastic milk cartons with the neck into the ground yesterday with the bottoms almost cut off. This year I decided to plant the tomatoes in them before they get too large, using the milk carton as a solar dealy. Then I am going to finish removing the bottoms and leave the rest for protection from cut worms and watering will be easier. I will get the starts into the ground way earlier than usual.

Today is book work day. Pay the subs day. They do like to get paid.

If I had a good place to fish carp I would try catching some for my birds. I'm sure they would love a nice baked carp with lemon and herbs :)

I know it sure goes a lot faster when Judy is off to help me, too. Of course, then I have to pretend to listen to whatever it is she is saying. Which gets me in trouble because she will claim she told me something and I agreed to it.  When all I said was "Uh Huh"..

Ivie,  I know it is L and not an I, But I like the I......   We waved when we went by yesterday. We went to Running's  I bought Judy a side delivery rake for the yard, she is ecstatic about it.  We went to get a grill, but they were out of the one we wanted.  We have a fancy huge stainless  one, but it is old and seems to need new burners or grates or something every year and I end up putting 200 bucks into it thinking it will last for 10 years and it never does.  It is also to large to go up on our little deck, so we have decided to get a smaller cheap one and just throw it away every couple years.  It actually makes more sense as we are not big entertainers  ( actually we just do not know anyone around here) and for the one time a year the kids are here in the summer we will get by.

Do you mean a rake like this?

I have one of those and they do wonders for de thatching and cleaning the yard plus I use it to break up the poo behind the broiler tractors

Carp are good smoked . I feed fish to my dogs and sometimes chickens . During the bluegill spawn I catch a bunch . After filleting I boil the rest until it falls apart . Turkey burner/fryer and half of a old water heater tank for a pot .

This morning it is 42 here and in Longville . High of 62 here and 70 in Longville . That does not happen often .

Any streams or rivers here are FILLED with suckkers in late spring! We spear and net them and they get smoked. Its the only kind of fish I like:p!

We go red horse spearing with the kids in the Boy River. It's a hoot.

It's a glorious day here Jerryse and it's just begun. They said 74 for a high today on the radio. The deer are in the ditches eating green grass like a venison feed lot. I must pass 30 deer every day from home to work and back. Ditches are loaded.

Today's my first JH track meet. So I don't get to see the chickens all day

I didn't get any sleep last night, probably only about 3 hours. I'm really anxious for the meet, but anxious in a bad way..

I don't sleep before any kind of a change i.e., family dinner, holiday, trip somewhere. So a track meet would be a big deal for me. Good Luck I Love Layers. What do you participate in?

Since today's a JH meet I do the 100m dash, 200m dash, 100m hurdles, and 200m hurdles.

Since I'm an 8th grader and I'm fast enough I do varsity too, and at Varsity I do the 100, and 300m hurdles. And relays
