I would breed Minnesota-combed Australorps, no question.
Do I need NPIP cert first? I am moving toward it anyways.
I think I am still one more generation away before I can get the traits to follow through, they are good but now and then meaning about 25% (dang old Punnett and his square) are wrong. I might have some breeders this fall to try and get to others. I have no idea how this is all done. Jerry is the expert. I just started this first by accident then by design last year. So this year while better is not perfect.
I do have a question though and am not sure how to handle this, so Jerry tell me,,,,,,Please... Because I only started with 2 birds I have a very narrow gene pool, I did use a different BA rooster this year but he is also a descendent of the original rooster. How do I assure I get enough variation into the gene pool without have to go back 3-4 years and start over?
I have no idea on the NPIP, I doubt it as I think it is APA that control this, and I have no idea how that works either. Again Jerry is the expert. The Lady Vet is coming back here on Monday. JJ is so excited, I am thinking about giving JJ a bath this time. I have a bunch of NPIP questions for her as I cannot find the answers in my book. So if you have any you want asked let me know. BTW I must be special, when she calls she just says "Hi This is "first name"." Assuming I will know it is her. Maybe she thinks the way JJ and her hit it off I am her future FIL...
Jerry I feel for you and the arthritis and knee pains. If you are like me, it makes for some miserable days. I actually have days I think cutting my leg off above the knee would be better than this. I have diclofenac from my Doc that helps a lot. I was wondering a couple months back if it did any good. I asked my Doc if I could try going without it. He said sure give it a try. I did not notice a difference for about 10-14 days. Then it was a constant pain so I am back on it.
That's the 1pm pill I come in to take when you see my posts around 1-3 ( yeah I am not real punctual) Also I have Tramadol for the pain. It does wonders, but I only take it during the flare ups. Because it can really knock you out. Also they have recently made it a controlled substance so it is not as easy to get refills as it was.
May God bless you and wipe out the pain for a while, You have my sympathies on the flare up. Maybe we can get bulk pricing if we do our knees together?
