Surviving Minnesota!

Have you tried the Back To Eden method? No tilling, and great results.
LOL
I hope you're not selling him to someone else!
Not an electrolyte issue. I hope you find a good solution, though

Lucky is not a color egg rooster. I really do not know what he is, other than HUGE... I thought you wanted a CLB.. DID I screw up?

BTW roosters Lucky's age are not a problem around here There must be 25 or more that are headed to the soup kettle if someone does not want them.

I would breed Minnesota-combed Australorps, no question.

Do I need NPIP cert first? I am moving toward it anyways.

I think I am still one more generation away before I can get the traits to follow through, they are good but now and then meaning about 25% (dang old Punnett and his square) are wrong. I might have some breeders this fall to try and get to others. I have no idea how this is all done. Jerry is the expert. I just started this first by accident then by design last year. So this year while better is not perfect.

I do have a question though and am not sure how to handle this, so Jerry tell me,,,,,,Please... Because I only started with 2 birds I have a very narrow gene pool, I did use a different BA rooster this year but he is also a descendent of the original rooster. How do I assure I get enough variation into the gene pool without have to go back 3-4 years and start over?

I have no idea on the NPIP, I doubt it as I think it is APA that control this, and I have no idea how that works either. Again Jerry is the expert. The Lady Vet is coming back here on Monday. JJ is so excited, I am thinking about giving JJ a bath this time. I have a bunch of NPIP questions for her as I cannot find the answers in my book. So if you have any you want asked let me know. BTW I must be special, when she calls she just says "Hi This is "first name"." Assuming I will know it is her. Maybe she thinks the way JJ and her hit it off I am her future FIL...

Jerry I feel for you and the arthritis and knee pains. If you are like me, it makes for some miserable days. I actually have days I think cutting my leg off above the knee would be better than this. I have diclofenac from my Doc that helps a lot. I was wondering a couple months back if it did any good. I asked my Doc if I could try going without it. He said sure give it a try. I did not notice a difference for about 10-14 days. Then it was a constant pain so I am back on it.

That's the 1pm pill I come in to take when you see my posts around 1-3 ( yeah I am not real punctual) Also I have Tramadol for the pain. It does wonders, but I only take it during the flare ups. Because it can really knock you out. Also they have recently made it a controlled substance so it is not as easy to get refills as it was.

May God bless you and wipe out the pain for a while, You have my sympathies on the flare up. Maybe we can get bulk pricing if we do our knees together?

good morning all! we are up and at 'em! did chores in shorts and a tanktop today.... imagine that!

I am getting al the little mouths fed, all 125 of them, then the pooches and I are taking an adventure about 60 miles east to get my chicken food components. I am looking forward to it, not only to start mixing my feed, but now that things are really greening up, a drive into south east minnesota is going to be soo pretty. it is one of my favorite places to go for a cruise as flat plains give way to rolling hills and dairy farm then down into the bluffs to the river.... doubly so if I am on my motorcycle.

I was hoping to burn some grass off in my bottom today but it might be just a tad too windy. We might even be under a burn ban. Im not too worried as the area i am burning only low laying dead grass that is surrounded by bare dirt fields on 3 side and wet green grass on the other (despite the dry weather the ground is still squishy down there in the bottom).

anybody else up to something fun on this beautiful morning?

I got it . Makes me think of the soggy bottom boys in the movie Oh Brother . Also makes me think of BC but then she might not like being called the Boggy bottom girl . LOL . So I checked the APA standard and there is a Millie Fleur Old English Game bantam . So I think that is what I bought . Seller had several colors of OE games . Same number on tags . So into quarantine . That saved me once a few years ago . Grandson wanted some barred Rocks at the sale . Quarantined them and they soon started coughing up blood chunks . Larango ! Destroyed and burned . Nothing caught it . Seller I think was getting rid of any that looked healthy once he had it . Buyer beware at sales .
