Surviving Minnesota!

Ok Folks - Pop Quiz Time....what do you all use for 3-4 week old chick feeders and waterers. They are too big for the little chick mason jar screw on feeders but are not quite big enough for drinking cups and big ole 5 gallon pail attached to hog pan bottom. (Thanks to @KlopKlop for the idea)

I bought a small 1 gallon water fount, which is perfect beginning around that age and as they grow. I tried using the water nipples. Didn't work the greatest for me. We use the PVC pipe method for feed, so DH made some smaller ones and there's 4 in a row. I can't remember the pipe size off the top of my head. I've also used the small hanging feeders that hold maybe 4 cups of food, but they waste so much food at that age.

I wish the rain would let up a bit my way. I have some cranky chickens. I think even the ducks have had enough.

We have tickets for the Twins game tomorrow. So far it looks like it'll be the one sunny day this week *fingers crossed*

Lol have u gotten any eggs yet?

I love going to Twins games. They r fun as long as its not windy and youre high up!

PICTURES!
So I have been keeping Rosy and Ruby in the front of the big coop. It is 6' x 4' - plenty of room for the two of them. Tom has beat them up so bad. Also, Rosy will actually hid when the other chickens are nosing around and the coop door happens to be open. She wants nothing to do with them. I thought this area may make a rather nice brood are IF anyone went broody. Eventually I will have to add another area onto this coop as the upcoming birds will need all this space.

This is a picture of the 'tractor' coop that my neighbor built for me. I need to finish it out but stapled plastic on the front portion top and sides to keep it dry. This coop is used for the four to five free-range birds and they just hop up and into it at night. There is a roosting area/nesting boxes built onto the back portion for them to use. Rosy will not free range because of Tom Hanks and Gilda and Helen. They are so mean to her. I give her the choice and she just stays in her own little world by herself until Ruby comes back to join her in the evening.

This is Reginald or Reggie for short. Of course a CLB. One of SC siblings. Thanks Ralphie. He is doing what a good rooster should do already and protecting his girls.

How many in each section? and would you have a people door leading from one section to the next section with out leaving the middle? How about a breeze way in the middle that could serve as additional feed and medicine storage.

I've been thinking of all of that. I think I'm going to have a door between each section.
I probably won't have a breezeway though, I thought about it but that's what the barns for

Probably about 10-15 birds in each section. Still undecided though since I need to convince my dad
