Surviving Minnesota!

Morning Sleepy Heads!

I have been trying to review repair instructions for my truck...I really do not want to ever have to buy another truck. I had hoped this one would be my last one when I got it. I do not even have 250,000 miles on it yet. The rear wheel bearing change is becoming a pain in the butt. I thought I had it yesterday but alas, I am back to square one today. I know have to remove the "new" old bearing that broke up on the test drive. I am assuming I screwed up something.

The sad part is I get one day further behind each day I spend working on the thing.

Bad words were said here yesterday. Hopefully there will be none today.

I am not even spending the time I want with the birds or doing my other million spring chores.

Good morning ralphie. Bummer on the truck. Those things can be a pain in the butt! Especially when you have to keep going back to the auto parts store.

My tractor parts FINALLY shipped yesterday! I ordered on the 10th of April. Apparently Wanita really screwed something up!

Good morning Ralphie: I am up. I have taken the kids to the school bus stop and let out the chickens. Roger sounds much better. Still a little gurgle and cough...but better. I think these cooler nights mixed with warm days screws him up. Condensation or some such.

I am sorry about your ball bearings. I know whenever I take in a vehicle with bearings issues the mechanic gets sort of a resolved look on his face -- kind of like a martyr and then charges me $200-$250 for that one wheel that likes to sing down the highway.

Yesterday I did windows and I am sore. Sore. Sore. But in a good way.

DH was on the couch with his bum knee last night. DS at trapshooting practice. DD at a friends house. And me gone over to Leech Lake to do cabin windows.

Sadie was bored.

She took a patio furniture pillow and rampaged. DS has white puff duty tonight when he gets home from practice. Since it was dark when he got home last night. That is if I can stand it today.....and just let it lie.

Nice lawn decorations! How nice of Sadie to do that for you while you were all so busy with other stuff!

Wow she had fun! sorry :(

I could take pictures of bird feeder destruction this morning, I wonder if they would be covered under homeowner insurance.haha we had three bears here last night, one was right up on the deck looked like it wanted to come in our bedroom patio door but the dog barked like crazy and scared it. Then we noticed another under the bird feeders and then saw the third one! at that time they all left. Some of those metal feeders are expensive! last year a bear bent them up but DH was able to straighten them, now I don't know if they are fixable. Thank god they didn't bother the chickens!

Good morning!
Dakota was supposed to calve yesterday according to AI but she didn't, but she is dilated a lot and this morning she was laying down in the barn so hopefully she'll calve sometime today.

The bulls we're getting are being tested this week, so hopefully they will be here by next week!

My lone Rouen duck spent the night outside, my pekin drake picks on her so much that she must've not come into the coop and I didn't notice.

Egg production has fell a little so I'm going to go on an egg hunt after track today.

Yesterday I went to my first varsity track meet. The events were split into JV and Varsity but our coach made us all do varsity even though our team consisted of three 8th graders, 3 freshman, and 1 sophomore.
In the 300m hurdles I am 2 seconds away from qualifying by time!! Which could easily be taken off since I stuttered at the 3rd and 5th hurdle.

I was also in the first heat in the 300m hurdles so I was with 3 kids who'd already qualified, and the other 3 kids in the heat have gone to state before, and I got 5th in my hear out of 7 people

Hey Everyone,
Besides being new to raising my chickens, I'm also new to gardening. LOL. Anyway, I visited a friend last week that lives on 8 acres in Mayer, MN and I noticed that her dirt was pure black and beautiful. I came home and realized my dirt here is brown, sandy, and ugly. I want to till about 0.25 of my land for a very large garden that my mother and I can work on together. I figured I would add black dirt to my land once it's cleared and tilled, but will I have to continue that every year? Also, I am composting, but since I'm new at it, to me it seems like it is taking forever. I've researched burying fish and I might do that too, since the hubs loves fishing and I don't like to eat fish, however for a garden that large, I guess I need more advice on how to make my ugly soil work for me. Thanks in advance!

Some how Sadie has managed to cheer me up on this ugly expensive day! Maybe give her a sofa pillow to play with and really make my day.
