Holm, Lucky will not get too large to breed, I think he is BA over Rainbows. (sounds like a Judy Garland Song)... He should be large gentle and a good protector. I am sure he would never peck at a soul, unless it was an evil soul that had it coming. Has he crowed yet?
Wow, you lost your hands and left one on a nest? Why didn't you take it to the hospital to have it reattached?
Seriously , I would leave them on the chips, When you want a hen to stay broody it seems any little change stops them. When you want to break them, nothing stops them. Having just moved them and one half on half off, I think I would leave the nest be, even if it is not perfect.
