My aunt just rescued some Appenzeller Spitzhauben.
The story behind them is, my cousins teacher found them in the middle of a road in a sack. The teacher took them home, thought that they were all roosters, realized they couldn't have 3 roosters in the middle of town. Asked my cousin of she wanted them, my cousin and aunt said yes.

They take them home realize they are most likely hens.

They are leaving tomorrow for Vegas, and my older sister is taking care of their birds since she just moved in with them cause she graduated.
I don't think they trust her so when I go in for my chiropractor appointment, and when I go to sell some birds, on Monday, I will go check on them..

No, just some Black Large Fowl left to go.  The only bantams I have are Silkies and Salmon Faverolles and some crosses I was working as a project but I am going to let that go.

Any black silkies?

Hey, MN peeps -
I've been off since April, but I've been happily up to my ears with family and livestock and garden - I think my 1/4-acre garden will be in by week's end! Two years since I could say that!

My littlest guy turned one this week. He has been enamored with chicks and sheep and bunnies and dogs and cats. But he goes up to the chicks and starts QUACKING! I haven't had the heart to tell him they're chickens! LOL He wants to come out with us to do chores, and I oblige and ask him if he'd like to see the ducks, and he starts quacking up a storm!
Hope to stay regular and catch up with everyone, but now that the garden is in, I look at planted beds and there is weeding to be done!
Ralphie, your peeps look great. I found a girl close by with EE pullets, so that roo will have an ample amount of ladies.

As promised. I know they are in the "ugly tween" stage ...but still babies nonetheless Here are Loretta with Momma Dixie and a few of Patsy and June.






I'm trying to have her a bit more socialized to me as well. Broody babies tend to be on the more timid side as directed by their mothers. DIxie allowed this--this time.

I do have some adults that are a couple years old. I might have some chicks too, and one rooster in the bachelor pen hatched last fall.

Yes they are, Minnie. I took one Wellie and a EE or Ameraucana. Is the little black one a mix for sure? So EE right? The other Wellie...is an egg I snuck out of the hatching eggs we got to keep Dixie happy.

Hey everyone. Havent been able to post for awhile! Been busy... Well kinda... I have six new babies in the incubator awaiting their trip to meet their new mom. They are cute little buggers....

I just set my first batch of guinea eggs in the incubator. I was hoping to have a hen raise them, but my broody Cinnamon Queen broke up after I put her in the broody run.
I've got enough BCM eggs that I can pop them in with the guinea eggs a week later - anyone try that before? - and have them hatch together.

You better be careful mixing Guinea eggs and Real bird eggs. Chickens are 21 days and guineas are 25 days with some going 27. It would be near impossible to get them tio hatch on the same day. I have my guinea eggs set to hatch 3 days after my chickens and 3 days before my turkeys and my fingers are crossed that will work out so I have the hatcher brooder space I need.


And Grats on Getting the Fufu's from Minnie....... I really want some but the eagles here do make it hard.... I have the 4 (fingers crossed) White sports that will never see the day they free range because of the eagles. I have found a white bird amongst all my colored birds gets nailed fast by them. They are going to live their lives out in covered runs, unless I get so many white sports I do not mind losing one or two.
