Surviving Minnesota!

Raining a bunch here. Rained basically all day, I just went out to do chores. I was soaked by time I got down there. Took care of the Cochins, in those 10 minutes the power went out 4 times. Then I gathered eggs and put some hay down for the ducks

and layers. There's 4 new leaks in the roof that have just decided to start leaking. I will fix those this weekend or Wednesday if it isn't raining.. While I was taking care of the layers the power went out a few times. It also went out during school.
Looking at the radar we should have rain for the next day or so..

It'll probably get here in the next few days.

Some other nice heifers. Although idk if the white one will stay or go. Her mom is one of the best cows. She is very docile and when she calves I can go in and do anything with the calf and she will just stand there and watch me. But she still is a great mom and raises a nice calf!
I would keep the white over that last one, number 3 too high in the tail and her whole body seems to slope down forward, not just from her stance. The white is a more balance heifer. And if you get some grays (blue in chicken talk), then that would be really cool!

The nursing home eggs actually come in shell. They must go through the sanitizing dip as was described by someone else.
Oh right. I remember you talking about it. I sorted all my garlic by size. Everything 3.5 oz per head and under I'm eating and selling. Everything 4.5 and over I'm planting back and 3.5 to 4.5 is my buffer depending how much I need more to plant or eat.

I probably have 8-9 lbs of 4.5oz+ heads to plant
The trick is to plant the largest cloves if you want larger bulbs. If you have doubles, those are no-nos to plant though, eat all of those ones. DH cut the weeds in the garden we are going to plant with it this year and I think I may go out and burn before tilling. With all the crazy stuff we had this year, the gardens were just left, now we have to clean out before snow falls and prep so we can have something next year. You should see our strawberry patch. OH MY!!! It will be a challenge, especially since the big trees that fell in July went over in there too. The fence was mushed in a few places and needs fixing. We are never done working around here, that is certain.

I am struggling with doing a fall batch of chicks too. We have talked about adding a couple leghorns for white eggs. We have some demand for white eggs in our market but I would really only need 6 or so. I don't know what else I would fill an order with. Maybe if I drove to the hatchery I could get less than the 25 minimum?
See if they got started pullets at McMurray
