Will they actually let you play? At our school if u miss practice 2 days before the game u can't play.

Yes since we don't have practice on Friday they will. And Thursday was a game. If I missed Wednesday and Tuesday and the game I technically wouldn't be able to. Our varsity coach who basically decided who gets to decide if you can play or not doesn't really follow those rules though.. Which angers me...

Sadie did some pheasant farm hunting last weekend. She stayed close and lept and bounded up and down of the tall grass. She scared up one bird. But she has a long way to go on field hunting. They tried to get her excited about a dead pheasant and she walked away. Not sure if she thought it was a chicken or thinking that she needed to just leave that dead bird dropped. IDK. DH thinks it's my chicken training though...I know. I could tell by the way he leaned that conversation last Sunday. You know what ....I don't care!

She retrieves ducks just fine. He just needs to spend time with her...which he doesn't do.

Yes, I was forwarned that IF the dog kills a chicken she is not to be told no because she is trained for pigeons and pheasant and it may 'ruin' her IF I tell her no when it comes to chickens. HA! LOL - as if he thinks that will work. But the chickens do not free-range so it should not be a problem anyway. Not picking that battle at this time. Man it is nice though. You say here and pat your hip and she is right there. Sit and she does and pretty much stays sitting until she is released. Those are BIG DEALS. I know he could not wait to get up to Aitkin and show her off! Boys!

Those labs can be trained to both hunting and chickens though. We've done it. Sadie is just young and unsure...she'll get it.

Really good hunting dogs know the difference between chickens and pheasants. The dog I hunt with runs right past my chickens doesn't even turn her head at them, granted during season she goes out just about everyday even the first time she was exposed to them she ran right past them not even caring! And then there's 'hunting dogs' these are the dogs that are only taken out once or twice a year, not really disciplined and see a chicken and will go after it. This is what I've realized over my experience with hunting dogs and what the person I go hunting with has told me.

This is the dog I go hunting with her name is Daisy. I absolutely love her!!!

My Labs like Layers can turn the hunting on and off and know chickens are protected. Sometimes my dogs complain the chickens are more favored than they are.

Of course I am not an expert on dog breeds - this dog reminds me of my son's American Bull Dog 'Daisy.' He re-homed her when she about nine-months old. I loved that dog! And she was so pretty.

Now that you say that she does remind me of a bulldog! She is some type of Springer though, not sure though.
