Morning all! Frost is down here. That means it's time to get the garlic in!

The flock seems unfazed so we are good to go! My legs will be tired tired tired tonight as I will be up and down ladders all day.

Morning all.

It is chilly this morning, but I do not think we got a frost here.

I wisely called off the camp bus arrival for today. My SIL is coming down on Monday and we will try it then.

I have no idea what I will do today, maybe just play it by ear. The first cold snap or two in the fall is kind of hard to get out and do much in. I am a wimp.

I am guessing mushroom hunting has come to an end.

It appears we didn't have frost. But we're just a few yards from the lake. That makes a difference. Coop windows wide open to get those birdies used to it. I love it when their feathers are fluffed out. They look huge. Dh is putting the RV to bed for the winter. I've done my dryer sheets all over, and such.

Birthday dinner party tomorrow for MIL.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . As my neighbors stop by from time-to-time they ask about Tom Hanks because they do not hear him. Everyone is happy to hear that Tom thrives a few miles away with a harem of RIR. Beautiful flock. His new owner tells me that, even with the light changing due to seasons Tom still wakes everyone up at 4 a.m. each morning. LOL. One man's roo is another man's treasure.

Its going to be a nice, non-windy day with okay temps today. Tomorrow the wind is spose to be 10 to 15 so a little windy again.

I am still finishing up a a quilt top I began last January. I must go to a craft store and get a large piece of plastic to cover it so I can use it on the table. It is roosters and I will post a picture when it is done.

Those little gold comet chicks that runnings gave me are quite the chick. They WANT to be held or petted. I have not experience that before. They usually run away to a corner before coming to get a treat. I have decided to up the protein of my hens food by mixing in some of the game feed that Ralphie has talked about. Those ISA's and CA lay every single day and that must need more protein. Right? Its only a 2% increase, plus some BOSS, some (limited) meal worm. I added a little cracked corn and safflower seed. What do you think about all that?

Congrats on the football game ILL.

Holms - grandma says drink! drink! drink! LOL. I am serious!

I looked at feather fixer the other day at Runnings, it is just 18% protein. The turkey finsher/grower I get at Marties is 20 or 22% I forget which and am too lazy to go out and read a label.

I would hold off on the corn. That is in effect lowering the protein of their total feed. Sunflower if I read the web correct is 24% so that would be bringing the protein up. I am guessing the worms are higher protein.

I am feeding the show birds some scratch which is around 12% protein, but I am doing it for the carbs to try and gets some weight on them to make up for their youth. The exception is the PC roosters which are still fixing feathers on their hackles after their last molt, I am just giving them the Turkey feed. and a few sunflowers and I mean a few to try and tame wienerhead down. He goes so nutso when I reach in his cage.

Layers, Bummer on the snow,

Glad your school is winning.

How in the world do kids at a school dance "twerk"? DO they not have chaperones that would stop that before it started? Miley Cyrus is bad for America, I knew it, this proves it.

Sorry Holm find another gal to have a crush on...
