Surviving Minnesota!

ME!!!! I hate it, especially the dark. Go to work it's dark, get home and it's dark. Then the weekend gets here and you have to try and get everything done that you need to do when you have light. And you need to put layers of clothes on to be able to do anything without getting chilled and having to quit half way through.....(no running out to the coop barefoot.)

Dark, damp, and wet out this morning up North. I really hate winter. Too much darkness, too much cold, and far too much wind up here than I like. I know it is supposed to be a time for "rest" but I plain don't like it! Who's with me?

I hate winter, the older I get the more I hate it. Cold and dark, YUCK

Good morning all :)

I have been reading articles on Alzheimer's this morning ... thinking about my MIL and wondering if DH will get it as well. What a cheerful thought, just like this gloomy day.

Ona seperate note. Are there any wild animals that can be safely feed to the chickens? My hubby traps all winter long all types of animals, skunks, mink, muskrats, coon, bobcat, otter, beaver, fisher, pine marten, cyotes, and I am sure there are more. If it moves and bares fur he tries to trap it. He really wants to feed the meat to the chickens for animal protein. He was like Why can't I feed it to them? Then proceeded to question all your knowledge. Typical man to question all knowledge that he doesn't come from him and he doesn't want to believe???

I think the concern is worms, and any bloode-borne bacterial infection such as a plasmosis that they can keep at bay with their immune system but an animal not used to it can get....IDK. Wild animals have nobody worming them though...and sounds like those particular worms in a different type of host-chickens- have the potential to do harm.

If you have one of those outdoor propane cookers you could boil the carcasses thoroughly for a while. I'm sure the heat would put the kabosh to worms or bacteria, protozoan infectious non-desirables.

I read yesterday somewhere, there is a new drug being tested that can reverse Alzheimer's not just stop its progression. Of course, it is in drug trials now so who knows what the government will do with it. I hope that gives you hope and cheers your day some.

I just skimmed the "causes" and stopped. It is too depressing for me.

My Dad died of secondary complications to Parkinson's which has its own dementia with it. It has the same causes. We suspect farm chemicals/pesticides to be a cause. When I grew up, way back in the 50's we used a ton of pesticides,\. The safety equipment/gear was non-existent.

Every time I forget where I put my keys, I stumble or feel a little vertigo, I worry I am getting Parkinson or Alzheimer's. What will be will be, but I am not going to over worry it, if I can. I know what you are going through. BTW if I was to get it I would try any cure Mexico or Europe has to offer. Whether our FDA says it is legal, helpful or not. I do not want to live and die the way my Dad did. It was terrible, He died 8 years before his body stopped functioning.

Sorry to throw a bummer on everyone's morning, I know what you are going through. Try to live for the day and not let it get you down. I know easier said than done. I pray he does not get it.

Note I grew up in the 50's proving I am way older than you,,,,

@erlibrd and @duluthralphie there is alot of new information on Lewy Body Dementia coming out.. I believe it is Parkinson type disease. It's more widely occuring now than people think. Robin Williams had it. But it has a quick downslide on the dementia end. Ralphie. I wonder if your Dad had this. Chemicals-Agent Orange- and the sort are often the source of the problem. As I'm sure other things.

I love Layers he looks like a great guy!

Look into coconut oil. There are a lot of benefits but even some claims to reversing Alzheimer's. Preventative measures may reduce the chances of it developing. Coconut oil is good for everyone!
