Surviving Minnesota!

That one is lavender cuckoo or also known as self blue cuckoo .

So are the lavenders more purplish than grey to be called lavender rather than blue? I never realized chickens could be so complicated until we got some. I have lots to learn. Wonder if it would count for CEUs if I took a class on chickens. Not sure if my school would see that as beneficial to my teaching skills. Hahaha

I think it's June Carter. Minnie would it be her? Gosh she's so darn cute and innocent and not acting goofy at all. I would have never expected her to go first.

And this photo is for Jerry and Ralphie.
And my homegirl Ivie.

I was down near the coop on my lunch hour, as my Dad came over a day early to cut up those two downed trees. I thanked him for his service here on Veterans day as well as his service cutting up my rotten popples that fell down. Boy he zipped them up fast. He's getting in shape this fall with the chainsaw. He is about done with the winter wood cutting at his already. Anyways I was down there moving the big branches he cleaned off the trees and I thought I should check the coop. Figuring I'd just be getting poop on my shoes and an empty pocket again. Shining there was the tiny olive pullet egg waiting on me.

DH hunted the woods nearby this AM and Junior was going off from around 9-10AM singing the egg song apparently. He thought he was predator calling, but he was singing along to the egg song I'm sure. Now I wonder when the rest of the youngins will start with their first eggs.

NICE JACKET!

Hello Chickeners . . . . I am caught up.

Good conversations. I have worked hard each of the past three days. Leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again - well, actually I do. The 21st in time to cook Thanksgiving meal for 16 this year. Yippee! I bet it is cold when I get back and that will be a disappointment.

Have a nice evening.

I shot a nice lil buck... Pics later... There is a lot of nice bucks up here but we all pass on them... Shot a lot of deer this year... But we dont talk numbers...

Have a good trip Ivie, girl.
Peek back when you can.

Hi Holm. Welcome Back. Good luck getting a doe, Layers.

Garage looks good Kloppers. You have a sweet tooth with the Captain and Crème Soda. I never have liked Captain. And I dislike Crème Soda. Sorry to say....uff-dah. i'm more of a citrusy tangy gal I guess when it comes to desserts, drinks and such.

Got some bad news from DH last night. He was stopped and pulled aside by the neighbors' brother in law. He informed DH that he will shoot our dog the next time he sees her in the woods. She is chasing deer. He is in full rights to do so. He lives in the metro and comes up a couple weekends a year. We are at fault for this. But she is so fast and cat like she zips into the weeds for potties and comes back into the yard from the other side. She has overstepped her welcome with our neighbors and the only reason she didn't have a bullet in her was because she had a blaze orange bandana on and they had not gave their warning to us.

My Dad had a farm and I believe I've shared with many of you my Dad having to shoot neighbor dogs that were packing up and taking down calves. They were taking down his livelihood. This one is tougher for me. Because I'm on this side of it, I suppose. She's a pup. She is harder than h-e double hockey sticks to train. Being quick as a cat she is also of her own mind. Territorial. The deer have not touched my plants in 1 1/2 years since she's been in this yard. I know she chases them off. I just didn't realize how far she chases them. and unfortunately the deerstands are right there on those get away paths.

They told DH next time they will shoot her and lay her on our step and we will know exactly what happened.
I'm thinking that if they do that. It will be the end of good neighborly relations, despite understanding it all and giving our best efforts. When Minneapolis and St. Michael come up on the weekends Sadie Mae will be on leash or in a kennel just like she would be in the cities.

Edited to add that while on leash with DD, before Minneapolis Metro folks took themselves back south, Sadie chewed off the clasp from her leash. I have to go buy a new one.

Advice?

I think we're going to have to shock collar train her to our yard. Just got off the phone with Dad who's been on both sides of the fence. He has a neighbor with a deer chasing lab, who he does not care for.

We are PITAs. I know....
