Layers, I'll trade you for your 7 foot snowdrifts. We just send the green artillery towards those. This 4 inches of ice stinks. Tomorrow, we load out 15 steers. That could be interesting.

BE CAREFUL! Hauling cows who have been loaded before is bad but hauling calves who have never been loaded is terrible on icey roads! I'm sure you know that though!! Good luck and stay safe!:)

We had that last week, I fell walking out to the bus almost everyday

We've got ice everywhere on the highway right now, my dad rode snowmobile out to check and said it was solid ice everywhere. The interstate is also still closed. I dug down to the road in the yard this morning that's what it looks like underneath due to all of our sleet yesterday.
Our ditches are full right now everywhere though. Next storm will definitely suck.

Good luck hauling them steers.

Tomorrow we have a full load so we will pay the $300 for a trucker to haul 60 miles one way. After they are out of the yard they are property of the sales barn so I am really glad we have enough ready for a full load otherwise my father in law would haul them in. We put down a mixture of sand and salt tonight. First thing tomorrow we will put down a layer of wood ash and sand.

Love the farm! But I hear you on that ice, it is terrible! Be careful tomorrow, it is bad enough just trying to walk on it, let alone trying to load steer or anything else!

The coolest thing is you can see the birds starting to roost
Cool cam! I have a hencam and love it!

Good evening folks. Today was a day off for the family. Tomorrow I get to get up early and head to the hospital with DH who wants to make use of his met deductible, he's having a screening procedure and needs a driver. I'm super excited for 60 miles of patchy ice. I wish he would have pulled the trigger on this in November. Or October... September. Serious anxiety about winter driving. Yuck.

The ice is atrocious out there-- back roads and sidewalks. I think the sanding trucks are doing a stand up job though and temps are cooperative. Fingers crossed all will be well at 6:30 in the morn.

Here this whole month I thought the other blue was Laing but it was the lavender Ameraucana laying. Her feathers are showing tread from the rooster and the other blue's back is as neat as a pin.

Jerry had one PITA customer that did a release and had him chasing birds in Chippewa national forest. Hopefully she didn't blow her chance for more birds. She'll bring her own fishing net next time. Lol.

Weren't you just trying to help him get a little extra exercise?

Jerry forgot to tell her that you can not give my birds a chance to escape . They are raised as livestock not pets . Any tameness they show is truly genetic .

Good Morning Minnesotans!!!

And you wannabee Minnesotans...

I have some exciting things to report this morning.

First, and this might be of particular interest to EJB and Jerry, I am offering a class this spring on "how to Cuddle your chicken". To take this class you must have completed the prerequisite class " Chickens are not just Livestock anymore".

The following item is highly recommended to class attendees to help ease the transition from livestock to family member:
http://redirect.viglink.com/?format...apolis.craigslist.org/hnp/grd/5856279866.html

For EJB I am offering the classes for free, if he just drives up to Togo and evicts that freeloader "Sasquatch" or picks up the past due rent from him.

Finally, I have decided to start a petition to not allow the Sun to cross the equator next fall. The Aussies do not need the sun on their side of the equator as much as we need it here...

Whaaat...no lapper classes Ralphie? As cuddly as my SS are, I find my lappers much more useful. Lap warmers, hand warmers, mosquito eaters and all round inspector generals!
