Surviving Minnesota!

I'm afraid to open it up here at work for fear of screeching coming out of my phone and desk area. I'll open it at home- maybe...

We've actually had two eagles roosting in our old white pine lately. Guineas not wanting to roost in the coop would be free for the taking around here. I don't need any rebel causes.

Hello Chickeners . . . . I have to finish reading here - only on page 38 out of 42. Just am excited to tell you that the bag balm seems to work well on those naked hens. The one RIR in molt for so long just got her second application and after the first (two? three days ago?) she is beginning to develop pin feathers. Want to try the NuStock also as it has some nutrients in it I think. Gotta read up on it again.

Stay warm out there. B r r r r . . .

NuStock is Pine Oil/Tar and Sulfa. It's old timey but it heals amazingly I hear and the Sulfa keeps the bugs away.

He has a new supervisor who does not allow smart phone time. He said before when he'd be down loading new software or whatever waiting for his computer to do his thing...he'd jump on and catch up with us. I guess new boss doesn't even allow that. It's too bad as I think Kloppers is a pretty straight shooting guy.

I believe you could jump on the computer directly order it too. I think I ordered mine out of Iowa or Illinois or something like that. Came in a few days. It's sort of hard to keep mixed up. It likes to seperate and the sulfa is chalky. It's different...

Does she have a web site? What else does she have? Does she grow her own or buy them from somewhere south?

It is hard to find someone that grows there own up here, I want things I know are winter hardy.
I'm afraid she doesn't have a website, she doesn't even own a computer. I will try to get her to write down what she has and prices. She does a lot of grafting so I know she has lots of different fruit trees but I don't know what she sells. She sells most of her plants at flea markets during the summer. She has lots of different hostas and other flowers not just trees. Everything she sells, she grows out in her field so it is all Minnesota hardy.

Our orange cat is named Captain Fluffy Pants. I'm okay with you borrowing that name, Ralphie.

This is the current situation at home. Two more chicks just hatched when I left for work. A few were still a bit gooey when I took them to the brooder (a.k.a. Miracle of Birth Center under my kitchen table), but the bator was a bit chaotic and more were trying to hatch. Next time I'm doing the Ralphie method with egg cartons.

Baby pics!!!! love them!

20 chicks hatched from the 22 eggs that went into lockdown. One was a late quitter and the other was an early quitter - that must have been the stinky egg. Not sure how I missed it. I also don't know what any of these little ones are aside from the obvious EE's. I was told pure stock, but I don't think so. The one is a Showgirl. I know that much. First time seeing one!

More, more, more....never enough.

So angry at my speech teacher right now. So first off for those of you who don't know what the speech class is it's basically a required class here where you write speeches. That in my opinion and a lot of kids and parents think should be replaced with Ag or Home ec. Today we had to do the 9 attention getters on chocalate. She never specidied when it was due and some kids asked me so I went up to ask her, she flipped out and started yelling at me. All I got out of it was no due date, which angers me because there should be a due date or at least an estimate for aassignment. And then the last 5 minutes of class she says that we have to have gimmicks for this tomorrow!!! She never said we had to do this in front of the class or bring gimmicks! My and basically everyone else's gimmick was going to be small chocolate bars. I cant get them as we dont ever have chocolate in my house and i live out of town!
She's one of those teachers that doesn't understand that not everyone lives in town.
Maybe I can drop this class for some online ag.
