I miss people when they disappear, haven't seen rhetts here in a long time.

20 chicks hatched from the 22 eggs that went into lockdown. One was a late quitter and the other was an early quitter - that must have been the stinky egg. Not sure how I missed it. I also don't know what any of these little ones are aside from the obvious EE's. I was told pure stock, but I don't think so. The one is a Showgirl. I know that much. First time seeing one!

What's the age difference between you two?  IN the Summer of 54'  I didn't have any brothers and life was good.

In '54 my mother wasn't even born yet! Haha I guess even though I feel as if I am getting old I certainly have a long way to go.

So angry at my speech teacher right now. So first off for those of you who don't know what the speech class is it's basically a required class here where you write speeches. That in my opinion and a lot of kids and parents think should be replaced with Ag or Home ec. Today we had to do the 9 attention getters on chocalate. She never specidied when it was due and some kids asked me so I went up to ask her, she flipped out and started yelling at me. All I got out of it was no due date, which angers me because there should be a due date or at least an estimate for aassignment. And then the last 5 minutes of class she says that we have to have gimmicks for this tomorrow!!! She never said we had to do this in front of the class or bring gimmicks! My and basically everyone else's gimmick was going to be small chocolate bars. I cant get them as we dont ever have chocolate in my house and i live out of town!
She's one of those teachers that doesn't understand that not everyone lives in town.
Maybe I can drop this class for some online ag.

I remember the frustration of school and dealing with the various teachers. I was just a kid and needed guidance - not the embarrassment then could cause. Now that I am all grown up and know that teachers have a life and them going off on one of the students was not about that student is a real thing. Suppose this teacher just found out that morning, or perhaps the night before, that someone very dear to them was going through a very difficult time and that teacher brought that emotional upset to school with them? Just suppose. It could be true or not true.

Additonally - I respect that you do not have chocolate in your household. So what does your family do in place of chocolate. What is that gimmick that satisfies the sweet tooth like chocolate would - what is the gimmick that makes chocolate so good? What is the addiction to the sugar all about. I D K but you can breath, relax and come up with some pretty creative ideas ILL. I have been listening to you and I have no doubt that you can.

I think it is that I am older than her Mom. AS I recall her Mom was born in 1955, but I could be wrong, Judy has 5,043 first cousins and I can not remember what year they all were born in. Heck, I am lucky I know most their names. Her Mom I know quite well though or did from when we were younger, way younger, so I can kind of get a fix on her Mom's age.

I was sure feeling old when I wrote about her Great Grandpa and his hooking me on coffee. I was trying to remember if she (mom3+2) would remember her Great Grandpa even. He was a huge part of my life for nearly 20 years so it does not seem that long ago. I think my kids remember him, my oldest for sure my youngest I am not so sure of.


We might not be older than dirt, but some of the rocks around here are looking kind of young nowadays....









On a different note. I put eggs in the incubator tonight, I did not put any Toad eggs in. I have 6 of them here, if anyone wants to try raising some toads, and get your own Sustainable meat bird line going...

If not I will mail them off to someone from the list of people wanting them. I would prefer they stay here in MN. I will have a 12 most likely by Sunday. Just let me know.

Got to sleep in 10 minutes since we had to drive in today. Cleaning the coop when i get home along with the barns.
40 degrees has never felt so nice!

This is my first cut a few days ago . Just a small 12 inch diameter . I turned it into 4 eight foot 4 x 4s . Blocking to stack lumber onto .

Yea I got it . Here is the tropics yesterday . About 3 1/2 inches.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . Been outside (its still cold out there no matter what the temp may be later) trying to start a wood fire so that I can have cooled ash to dust bath my hens in - hopefully on Sunday. I am amazed at the change in the molting RIR! Pinfeathers are pushing through and I began last Monday.
Letting the birds out of the coop to free range today. They came out and they went back in right away. LOL.
