Surviving Minnesota!

Good morning Chicken Friends. I have a day off as it would be on a Saturday with a paying job. But I have about 2-3 more loads of laundry with my Domestic engineer job, the dog nosing me for her regular feeding, and chickens waiting for the pop door to open.

June carter fell off the roost last night and I'm a bit sad about that, but mostly disappointed that she will not be laying blue eggs for me after an investment of time and feed. And relieved I did not have to do the job it looks like I should have done about a week ago. Note to self.

RIP June Carter.

So sorry, it is always sad. :(

I have a decision to make. Run to delano for a cousins get together, 45 min there, 45 min back, And 2 to 3 hours of sitting and yapping. Take most of the day... or stay home and get some stuff done in this fabulous weather. I'm waffling.

I'm heading to Aitken soon to get feed for the girls, I think it was December when I got 6 bags and they're down to less than half a bag so I'll get 4 bags today and it should last as long if they can get out for free ranging soon. I hope. About a 35 minute drive each way.

Sorry.

Peace at last!!

Judy and her sister have left for Wisconsin. She took with her 5 legbars. I thought I had 5 from last weeks hatch.

I put pink bands on the left leg of the CLB's when I remove them from the hatcher. I counted 6 the other day. I went to capture 5 of the 6 this morning and I only had 3....I am guessing either I cannot count reliably to 6 or those little buggars run so fast and got mixed in so I counted them two to three times each.

Luckily I had a few from the week before. I cannot believe how much difference a week makes when I put them in the same box. They are giants!

Good Morning Chickeners . . . .

BC -Sorry about the lose of your pullet. I still miss Daisy. All the stories and pictures of her bring such good memories. She was a bird after my own heart.

Sweet weather! Have gotten alot done outside already. Theres always alot more to do.

What a sweet guy Reggie is. Thats our roo. DH LIKES Reggie and EVEN DH says what a nice roo Reggie is. But then he and Tom did not get along. But the stories about DH and Tom Hanks will go into a scrapbook to live forever. They are too darn funny.

I keep introducing the flock to the river bank and they keep coming off of it to wander our property and the neighbors property next door. The neighbors and us exchange dog poo quite a bit. Last night they came over for a camp fire and we grilled hamburgers I was teasing the NH (new for Neighbor Husband meaning the male of the couple) - in a dream - that he and I were out cleaning up poo. And he would tell me (he was upset in this dream) that this pile is one of my dog's. I would look at it and say "Nope - my dogs poo doesn't look like that - definitely yours." Then he would point out another pile and I would say "Nope, wrong shape." He was getting pretty upset in this dream and I kept having to turn away from him so that he would not see the smirk on my face as I continued to tease him in this dream. Finally he caught on, we laughed and I cleaned up piles of poo. Its the time of the year that prompted that dream - do you think?

Ralphie, OC and GC like you just fine. They are barn cats! If you want a lapper ya gotta get one earlier and lap it. These two kitties will settle into your routine and everything will be love - love - love.
