Oh Ralphie, I talked to the guy at work, his wife doesn't want meat birds right now

She acquired 20 more layers last year (she had 8) and is getting more layers this year and just wants to do layers for a while. Now why he would care what she wants you ask?

probably cause she takes care of the birds I suppose...but who can tell.

Did you ever measure the Toad roosters? But I suppose if I can sweet talk Ed out of you, there may be no more room for another rooster...

Morning . No greenhouse up north . Ralphie the SS eggs weigh 1.75 ounces .

Seemed small to me . Maybe because they are rounder or shorter . My silver maple is blooming / budding . That is usually a month from now .

I love that idea. If everyone would come to my house you could practice digging. (sounds like I learned that from ralphie) lol

According to the forecast the nice weather will be ending soon.

I built a greenhouse years ago to start annuals and perennials from seed and to propogate stem cuttings. I abandoned those activities and now work with plants in ground or in nursery pots. Can anyone guess what that greenhouse was converted to ?

A chicken coop!!

DH built me a hoop style greenhouse last spring and I can't wait to get seeds started, might have to start toms and peppers in the basement again or put a heater in the hoop.

I converted a hoop house greenhouse into a grow out chicken coop . Without heat the greenhouse was a pain . I would try to start tomatoes in late March for planting out in mid May . They got frosted most years . Weatherman was no help . They could survive 30 degrees for a low maybe even 29 . So I would wake up to 25 when weather man would predict 32 to 30 . By the time the temps were steady enough it was just too late . Started them in the basement then moved them out . Still would get surprise freezes . Now I just start them early in a bucket or large pot . Just lots of plants . Then I separate them or take cuttings if they are really root bound . Cuttings grow faster than root bound then damaged roots .

I'm up. Finally. I slept good last night. Not so good Saturday night. ( that's why I was a winner Sunday AM)

The flock has been venturing out of the run for short field trips on the great white albeit thinner tundra.

Sylvia, Lucy and Daisy crossed the yard and on the deck. Pecked on the patio door and they got some Greek yogurt.
Old hen brains don't forget.
The youngins stayed in the run and were none the wiser.

Time to run. I'm still around just not much happening and reading instead of posting.

Ed is a lifer here. He is never going anywhere. While he is not a breeder, he is so good with the babies and does keep an eye out for critters. Just so some of you know Ed is not a pet, I really do not have pet chickens, I follow the EJB/Jerry method of chicken raising and non-cuddling....

What was the size of your door again? I think I will cut a hole that size but a toad inside and see if he can get through it.
