Surviving Minnesota!

Okay - I have gone and I am back. I saw maybe 10 snowflakes until I got to Shakopee. Then, as soon as I entered the house, they came on fast and thick. Oh well, I had to take it easy going back to Big Lake. It was worth the trip.

My sixteen year old gs asked if he could drive my Lincoln to work. He had to be to work at Target by 4:00. I let him. He did well. He is confident. We talked about the tee-second rule - he already knew it. I told him to take that out from three to four or five in this kind of weather. And I had to caution him to slow down a couple times.

I am not a slow poke. The roads were better on the free-ways. So 55 to 60 mph depending on the flow and amount of traffic. But why do some people go so fast. I came off 494 onto 94 by Maple Grove and I check my side mirror and there is a FAST driver coming up on my left - Stupid - Stupid - Stupid. The guy in front of me did not check his mirror very well and began to move into that left lane. The fast car tried to slow down and did not hit the lane changing car hard but just enough to send him into a spin. So now they are both spinning. I look in my rear view mirror and there is a red jeep behind me spinning. Phew! THAT vehicle was going tooooo fast also. Nothing was horrendous and I am wondering - should I have stopped? I seriously did not want to be on 94 in this weather and I AM NOT Stupid! Ugh - people - drive according to the conditions!

It took double the time to drive from Elk River to Big Lake. I don't consider that bad in these weather conditions.

Glad you are safe Ivie!

Someone called, my moms friends friend, she is selling some chickens. I said I wasn't really interested but maybe considering buying them and keeping what I want and flipping the rest at New Salem. What do you guys think?

Good way to bring a disease into your flock with all the buying from all the different sources that you use.

Glad you made it home safely Ivie, no you did the right thing to keep going. If you were out on a deserted road, yes or call 911 but on a busy freeway no.

Thought about what you said and I think i may have that part figured out. But they are all from the same person and I haven't had a new bird in my laying flock that wasn't out of my laying flock since October 2015. If they are younger then all of mine I will sell mine and wait a few weeks get the new birds and then sell the new birds right Before my chicks start laying. If they are older then mine or silkies I will say no. And then I will keep the birds i like of course, which there are only 4 I am keeping out of my current laying flock.

Glad you are safe lvie! Yeah, people do tend to go to fast in inclement weather, I agree. But people, all the time, don't check their mirrors and look over their shoulders before they change lanes to see if someone is there, or coming...
