No egg from Sylvia. But I was 5 for 5 on the laying hens.

Got home from work today and no Sylvia. Looked high and low for her. Went out for crab legs at the casino. All I could think is my Sylvia was picked up by an Eagle... just like Dixie and Loretta. Dang that dead white pine! Praying at dinner. Praying as I walked down to the coop....there was that magnificent old bitty of a mutt hen sitting on the roost, my old spent Sylvia. I ran back in the house and told the kids! Lol.

What a beautiful hen! Glad she was fine!

Those that have Silkies have you found a certain breed that doesn't pick on them? I have a friend with just 1 silkie for a chicken as the other 2 got eaten by predators a while back. She is waiting for more silkies but they are seasonally available only locally for her in Texas. Her silkie went broody. I suggested she gets some day old chicks and put them under her and hopefully break her because she does need some friends. So looking for suggestions that would be "nice" to a silkie.

On another note I have been dizzy/lightheaded for 8 days. Not vertigo no spinning just in my head. It has made work and other things very difficult. I have been to the dr. twice. Yesterday he gave me some motion sickness meds and they work but wear off. As of right now it has been over 12 hours since I took my last dose of meds. I only feel slightly dizzy. I am hoping it has gone away. All my blood work has come back normal/excellent. Went the chiropractor and was adjusted also on Tuesday trying to help this. If it is not gone by Friday/Monday we will schedule an MRI.

Momofmany I have never had Silkies so can't help you there :/

I hope you start feeling better. You'll be in my prayers :hugs

More silkies or perhaps bantams with crests.

sorry to hear mom of many. Virus? Blood pressure? Another baby to add to the 5?! Stress?

A note of caution on silkies kept with large breeds. They have open skulls and a hard peck to the head can cause brain damage or neurological symptoms. (Had it happen-- 10 lb buckeye hen on a 1 lb silkies hen = not good) it is not recommended that they are kept with large breeds.

Woooooooooow! She's a beaut!!!

Thank you EM this was last fall after her molt, so she was in mint condition, feathers ready for winter in this photo. She finishes ahead of everyone. She has lots of imperfections by showing standards but in my backyard she's perfect....

When you think you slept at least 6 hours and you only slept 3.... went to bed at 9:30 just woke up finally bothered to look at the time 12:30
