Surviving Minnesota!

Momofmany....I went through the same dizziness and it ended up being a sinus infection. Showed no other symptoms. Hope they figure it out...dizziness is not any fun...

No egg from Sylvia. But I was 5 for 5 on the laying hens.

Got home from work today and no Sylvia. Looked high and low for her. Went out for crab legs at the casino. All I could think is my Sylvia was picked up by an Eagle... just like Dixie and Loretta. Dang that dead white pine! Praying at dinner. Praying as I walked down to the coop....there was that magnificent old bitty of a mutt hen sitting on the roost, my old spent Sylvia. I ran back in the house and told the kids! Lol.
Gorgeous! Glad you found that beautiful girl!

On another note I have been dizzy/lightheaded for 8 days. Not vertigo no spinning just in my head. It has made work and other things very difficult. I have been to the dr. twice. Yesterday he gave me some motion sickness meds and they work but wear off. As of right now it has been over 12 hours since I took my last dose of meds. I only feel slightly dizzy. I am hoping it has gone away. All my blood work has come back normal/excellent. Went the chiropractor and was adjusted also on Tuesday trying to help this. If it is not gone by Friday/Monday we will schedule an MRI.
Never had that, but hope you feel better soon!

When you think you slept at least 6 hours and you only slept 3.... went to bed at 9:30 just woke up finally bothered to look at the time 12:30
Are you feeling any better? were you able to get back to sleep and get some much needed rest?

I have 2 chicks loose in the barn . Need to get out there while it is still dark to catch them . I was trying to inspect some interesting looking chicks . Never did get a hold of one . Just too tired last night to go out .

Ok I have 2 lavender orpington pullets . Poorest layers ever . In the past month maybe 10 eggs . Posted on the lavender orpington thread and found this is normal . Really ? Totally wrong . Need a shot of production Australop blood I think . Not planning to keep them long term . Chickens should lay a decent amount of eggs . Brahmas still not laying also . I guess they were not eating eggs .

So far not really dizzy today yet. The DH is off fishing in Canada on lake Winnepeg with friends since Wednesday. I have the house to myself until Sunday, unless you count the 5 minors that demand I feed them daily, multiple times. Right now I have about 6 hours until they come back as the bus just left and it is a half day of school. BUT I have to do my schoolwork today for both of my Grad school classes. There just never seems to be enough time these days.

Rained up here yesterday afternoon through the evening. Was still raining at 11pm when I went to bed. It looks wet, dreary, and plain YUCK out right now. I sure hope the sun shows today. Currently 35 degrees.

Hi,,,

I am back..You may not have noticed I have been missing for nearly 24 hours.

BUT I HAVE!!!

My laptop failed to survive the last round of coffee spillage at around 9am yesterday.

I decided to get a new one last night, I was going to punish myself for being a klutz but decided 10 hours was long enough to teach me my lesson.

Ivie and Holm, Ivie pulled a Jerry not a Ralphie.... I hide things and then bring them out or have her go get it for me from the shed.......

Also I had a starling revelation yesterday afternoon. I was trying to figure out why all my chicks were hatching a day early.

I missed a day this week, I thought yesterday was Wednesday until late afternoon... Judy was home Monday and t seem like a Sunday because of that. You know a long long long day that seems to never end....

I moved all except one SS hen and Cuddles outside yesterday. They took a sand bath first thing and loved it. The one I left inside might be broody. She is kind of grouchy about my reaching under her to check for eggs.

Chick moving day..

BC What a good looking old hen.

Holm Nice bunch of cattle, I will trade you one for 2 chickens.

Jerry, Grandpa naps are required and never a wasted day.

I can't remember what else everyone said so That's it.

Rained overnight and early morning . Gray day . Need a few things from town but just not interested in going . Checked garden and trees and berry plants after my nap . Quince rootstocks are budding . So maybe I will graft them near the end of the month to pear .

I picked up the ordered chicks from the PO this morning. I ordered 6 SS and 2 EE, they sent 2 extras. They all look healthy, drinking and eating good. My plan is to give them to the broody but when I tried earlier she left the nest before she even saw them but is back on it now and the chicks are in the house, I will try after dark. It may not work... any suggestions are welcome!!
I'll try and get pictures later.

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . I did see them using a broody to put chicks under on line on u-tube. Of Course I just assume (gullible) that it works - why wouldn't it. Not factoring in that there is a hen involved in the process.

Okay - I put Reggie back into the coop last night. He hasn't spent a day in that coop since Copper arrived. Understandable. I left him and came out 20 minutes later. (there was that voice again; the one that says go check the coop and there is a heat lamp on the floor and this one I put off for about five minutes while I did some dinner things and then I went out). I found poor Reggie in a corner of the not-covered run with his head caught in the wire. I am sure he would have struggled. I remove him from the predicament and put him on the roost INside the nest box coop. At 12:30 I woke and haven't been able to sleep since.

I ordered that coop from Tractor Supply as I told you I had done. But I cannot wait a week to get that coop to separate them. Finally, about 3 a.m. (after washing all the floors on the main level of the house) I lay back down and did some relaxation breathing. OH! I have a coop. (Ralphie - have you been laughing at me.) The one the DNext-door neighbor made me. It is 4 x 8. It needs some fixing up but - then I started planning that when I can go out there this morning and do this and that and I am making lists. Then, for some reason, my brain has to begin listing who would be good in that coop with Copper.Ugh!!!

So I prepare what I can on that coop and do the necessary chores and catch Copper and put him in it. He was aggitated as he likes his current luxurious living conditions. He paced back and forth and then I add three hens and all seem content. Then I talked Reggie back into his coop and he visibly relaxed.

Then I call Tractor Supply (I ordered this about 7:00 or later last night) to cancel the order. They are in Tennessee. I check to see where it is in the shipping process and it is not suppose to arrive here until Friday the 24th. It has not shipped. Which I think is reasonable since I just ordered it. I understand how fast these orders get processed in these days of computers. TS can cancel it but they are going to keep the shipping charge (29.99 because they have a shipping special going on) My attitude was Nay, we have three days in the state of Minnesota to rescind on any purchase (I think -

) So they cancel the purchase order and fully intend to keep the shipping expense on an order that has not shipped and I lied. I said that the same coop is in stock (which I did check but to which I apologized as a stupid move on my part for not checking before placing the order [if you understand what I am by saying that]) and that I intended to go pick it up locally. Okay - a little different attitude from them. But they are still going to keep the shipping fee. I responded that I would not be very happy about that. They responded that maybe, just maybe, they could manage to give me a one-time refund on the shipping. (Thats good with me as I only paid it one time and like, TS - you are going to track me somehow to tell me if I order again that five years ago on March 16, 2017 I placed an order and cancelled it and you gave me a one-time refund so now I want to cancel this order - five years later - and TS cannot give me a shipping charge refund) Sorry guys but I NICELY said that there would be alot unhappy people who purchase chicken food at TS that might hear about this. WHAT A HASSLE. It won't happen again. Besides, I am getting too old to be doing this stuff - arguing about a stupid cancellation. I am just one little ole lady trying to live in a a young peoples world where there are no customer service skills and the customer is not right. As a matter of fact they are all dumb!

So GOOD MORNING!!!
