Surviving Minnesota!

Turned into a decent afternoon after such a gloomy start to the day.
I'd like to take the plastic off the run but will we have another snow event?

Its a story from a while ago. Somewhere, someplace (I think someone said it was New Mexico) some people had some turkeys and they were afraid that it was too cold out side for them so they brought them in to their abode and the turkeys slept in bed with them. It was quite the topic out here with our chickeners for a while. Does anyone else remember?

At approximately 5:45PM Friday March 17,2017 , the NVSL in Ames, IA confirmed an H7/N9 low path avian influenza virus in a farm in Christian Co. The farm has depopped the positive flock and the USDA has been doing surveillance testing in surrounding farms. There has not been anything else found so far.

The Ky. Department of Agriculture, Office of the State Veterinarian, will be placing a ban on poultry movement on Monday, March 20th, until further notice.

As most of you probably know, there have been positive flocks in Tennessee and Alabama and they have placed movement bans in their states. This ban will continue until we feel the threat of AI has passed. Dr. Stout should have the official notice signed Monday morning.

We didn’t try to ban movement today (Saturday) because it was just too short of notice from when we received the confirmation last night.

OK now that rings a bell, LOL.

Oh I sure remember them sleeping with their turkeys IN BED WITH THEM! They were posting over on the turkey thread for awhile. Complete with pictures. Haven't heard from them lately. I do know one of their "roommates" died and I think they got another one or two. Seriously thought he was kidding....but no, they sleep with the birds in bed. And not roosting on a headboard....IN THE BED.

Layers...I believe there have been positive birds in KY & GA now. They are shutting down shows, swaps, autions and movement of birds in or out of some of these states.

Yes they are. There were also confirmed cases in Tennessee earlier this month as I have assumed you have previously heard. Hopefully this is the last case and no more shows are cancelled

Yes we have three confirmed cases in TN. Central TN south of Nashville close to AL. But I read somewhere about a confirmed case in WI. Was trying to check my facts & couldn't remember where I read it. Oddly the great state of Tennessee hasn't banned anything yet.
