Morning all...
Layers, I really like the Swedish Hen ( who would have guessed that), I like landraces, they seem to have more vitality than other breeds. The best part is the name can you imagine wanting a breed named "Lessor Scandinavian flowers". Ewwwwwww
BC. Lake neighbors from the 652 area code would be bad...Sorry you 651 peoples. We have problems with people at our cabin too. And for us it is just a cabin. I am the city folk up there I guess. We have spread the key to the cabin around a lot too. Your DH and I must be alike that way, I don't mind sharing as long as people take care of it and let me know they are using it or did use it.
There is no public access to "our" lake. There are 3 cabins on the lake each has it's own landing. The other two have gates on there drive so no one can get to the lake. We do not. Our Landing in right in front of our picture window and a pain to get a boat in and out. I keep saying I am going to make a new landing but never get around to it. When I put the boat in or out the truck grill is a foot or two from the cabin. The cabin is only 45 ft or so from the water. It is older than the hills and was there long before zoning laws came into affect. ( I am sure banty will correct me if I should have used effect).
I was leaving the cabin one day and there is a 651 truck driving up the driveway with a boat behind it. I stopped to talk to the guy because obviously he knows me if he is using my landing. The guy was quite indignant that I would stop in the middle of the road (my driveway) and block him. I had no idea who he was. I asked him were he was headed. He said to the public landing.
He did not believe me when I told them there was no public landing. He insisted there was," You know, the one right in front of that old cabin"...
Our drive way is 2 1/2 miles long, it is a deeded access across one persons private land (about 1/8 mile) and then the rest federal and county land until you reach our 40 acres. I was so mad I made this guy back up about 300 yards until he could reach a place he could turn around. He was still insisting it was a public landing when he left and was quite upset at me. Even when I asked him why would a public landing be 5 ft from my window....
I should put a gate up, maybe someday. I hardly ever get up there, should sell it. I haven't been there since Oct or 2015. I hope I still have a cabin
.
Anyone here need 1800 ft of shoreline in the middle of no where?
Jerry don't let a little monsoon stop you get out there and get stuck!
I had a bad start yesterday ( my back was out and I used Flexeral Sunday night so I was dragging until early after noon) but it ended pretty well. I am going to start bird testing this weekend, I hope. I put a new electrical service outside yesterday. I still need to get some outlets put up, then I can start digging in wire to the buildings.
I did a little test yesterday of me Cell phones "hotspot". I am thinking of getting rid of Dish TV. It has gotten up to 130 bucks a month and I might get rid of the house phone and internet. I have unlimited data on my cell, so I set up a hotspot and tried watching TV off my phone. It was amazing how well it went. By dumping the internet and Dish I will save a couple hundred a month. That can help pay for chicken feed. There is not much on dish I can't get off my phone.
Todays plans:
Drink Coffee
Work a little
Drink Coffee
and more work.
