Surviving Minnesota!

Thanks everyone!

@MinnesotaNice they will be here all summer so if you ever find yourself making a trip this way you k ow where we are! :D ;)

Have a hatch starting. Two out so far. Not many going into lockdown this round. Had a mutt get glued into his shell really well and just had a beautiful Buckeye hatch. Better be a nice Cockerel. I also have all my Buckeye hens penned up so I can start doing some controlled breeding with my best roo.

Good luck with the Hatch!

Ralphie how is the tractor tire going . Can it be patched ? Probably no chance of the green machine tire fitting .

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . Nice Pics and Video Holm. Thank you.
BC - those neighbors! Its such a small 'thing' and people make big deals out of small things. Put a sign up 'BREATH and enjoy this day' or something. Maybe they will get the hint. Or maybe there is a list you could make and post it on the gate. On this day - this very day (say it the Arlo Gutherie way as in Alice's Restaurant) - not any other day: Are you able to walk upright? Do you have food to eat? Is there a roof over your head? Are you cancer free? Diabetic free? Any other kind of free that you want to add? Then count your blessings and not the woes that this lake gate bring to this neighborhood.
Just a stupid idea that I would NEVER do.

Well I got to get outside and get things done before the rain gets here .

The tire has some gouges in it, but it seems to be intact otherwise. I lifted the front end and limped it to the shed when I saw it run come off. I put a hefty, and I mean hefty, tie down strap, about 4 inches wide around the tire and used a tire iron to tighten the strap which pushed the bead back into place. It took air and filled. I drove it some and parked it back at the shed in case the bead leaks.

They are kind of spendy to put tires on. I think the valve stem is leaking. If it goes down I will have to try again or take it in. I wonder if you can put a tube in a skid steer tire. You have any idea?

Chicken testing is tentatively set for the weekend of the 8th, in case any of you want to enroll in the seminar.

I have to decide how to handle it, I am thinking of canning some fresh chicken between now and then. I am tired of feeding roosters I no longer need.

There will be individual classes on chicken processing between now and then. You can even schedule it at your own convenience.

Another calf last night. Nice heifer calf out of the cow who raised the best heifer last year. I better start saving up cash :P So three days into calving and have 5 calves. Gonna be done fast this year. Everybody is bagged up and ready.

Why are you saving up cash? You buying your Grandpa out now? You going to let him rent his house or are you evicting him?

Fast calving is better than long and drawn out, IMHO.
