Surviving Minnesota!

Another calf last night. Nice heifer calf out of the cow who raised the best heifer last year. I better start saving up cash

So three days into calving and have 5 calves. Gonna be done fast this year. Everybody is bagged up and ready.

If you need to cut back on chicken feed to save up some $$ ---- I could take a few hennies off your hands

Chicken testing is tentatively set for the weekend of the 8th, in case any of you want to enroll in the seminar.

I have to decide how to handle it, I am thinking of canning some fresh chicken between now and then. I am tired of feeding roosters I no longer need.

There will be individual classes on chicken processing between now and then. You can even schedule it at your own convenience.

Please let me know as I may be available and want to help with the process. I want to learn how its done. I have other plans on the 6th and 7th so far.

Thanks everyone!

@MinnesotaNice they will be here all summer so if you ever find yourself making a trip this way you k ow where we are!

Have a hatch starting. Two out so far. Not many going into lockdown this round. Had a mutt get glued into his shell really well and just had a beautiful Buckeye hatch. Better be a nice Cockerel. I also have all my Buckeye hens penned up so I can start doing some controlled breeding with my best roo.

Careful! You might come home from school one day and I'll be hanging out with your Grandpa drinking beers on the porch! I'm excited to see what your Bucks produce! I think you'll have great success with them.

Chicks . Quite an assortment .

Jerry, you should come to MN and drop some off those off! Specifically, in my brooder.

Rain has returned . Got my tools put away just in time . Built a deck and ramp for DW yesterday and finished and painted it today . Got to love these fast drying paints . So the wood is protected now .Potted up some tomato starts 2 days ago plus potted some purple raspberry starts . Bought one of those mesh garden wagons to wheel my starts in and out of the garage . Need to assemble the plastic greenhouse soon . No hurry as no sun for awhile to warm it .

Turned the new Roo out with the girls --- and yanked the former head of state and put him in confinement out in the barn. He was such a butt! I am just amazed at the difference between the new fluff and the old (not really that old? a year in June) dictator. I think I'm just over EE roosters. I LOVE THE NEW FLUFF.

EM...He's glorious. What a good Boy. Look at how fine his head is too.

Agreed, he is wonderful! So a lady at work had sone interesting stuff go on at her farm, her ewe had 2 lambs, then 3 weeks later had another set of twins. She asked her vet, he'd never heard of that. So she Google it. I forgot the name, but this happens when they get pregnant off of 2 consecutive heat cycles. One of the first's babys died though because she didn't realize they weren't getting enough milk. She didn't start flowing as her body was still pregnant. The other is a bottle baby. She has plenty milk for these last two as it started flowing after they were born. This ever happen to anyone?

Gray! What are those gray babies? And then there is the white and look at that black one. Ohhhhhh look at the buff with the black on its head! Getting my chick fix here.
