Surviving Minnesota!

Lessor because that is where DH hails from. Actually have quite the famous singer in the family over there. Ove Stoyven, I believe is his name.

Oh Yeah... Good ol Ove'

Is there anyone from Middle River that is not Lessor Scandinavian? As I recall that was the site of the Lessor Scandinavian Prison colony..

Wow..Lots to cover...

Do they let residents of the Vast wastelands of the North travel to Scandinavia? I assume you could get in Lessor Scandinavia, they have no standards, but I doubt Greater Scandinavia would allow you in...

I have an epidemic of broodiness. I am at 4 now.

I bought a different brand of feed last week to try, Pellets. The chickens hate it, they waste it, throw it on the ground and will starve before eating it. I tried giving the guineas a bag of it tonight, they walked away from it.   Luckily I only bought 5 bags to try.

The two broodies that were hatching chicks, one has 7 ( I think) and is the perfect mother. The other has had 5-6 hatch and some how all of them ended up dead under her. I think she kills them for disturbing her eggs.  I am thinking of selling her in the Vast Wastelands of the North, They will find her behavior perfectly normal up there.

Of course, we're such nice people that they just love it when we come visit. Plus, we have good maple syrup.

Sourland must have dropped his broody GPS again when he tried to send me a broody..... Then again, the last time he misfired several chickens AND a human went broody, so maybe it's a good thing he is sending the broody magic your way instead of mine.

Your chickens are picky about brands? What spoiled chickens. I buy whatever is on sale that week, so they get used to a new brand/colour/form every week.

No no no.... Keep your crazy broodies down there, thanks, I don't need them anywhere near my angel broodies lest she teach them bad manners!

Ralphie, have you tried hot sauce on some eggs to break the egg eaters ? Don't know if it works as I have never had to resort to it. Knock on wood, I have not had a dedicated egg eater. If an egg gets broken it will likely be eaten, but have not had a hen with the habit ?

Don't know about a visit to Sweden or Norway, as they both have big problems with Muslim immigrants ? I hate to say it, but at this point I think that Finland might be the best choice. Don't tell any of the resident Finlander's that I said that, or I will never hear the end of it !

The time is approaching when I will consider getting chicks started. Consequently any chick photos are no longer an annoyance to me. Holms, was the last calf the right color?

Morning!

Too many posts to catch up on - thats what happens. Its been mostly jibber-jabber. Holm has had many, MANY new calves born! Ralphie has been working hard. Jerryse needs sunshine - NOW! BogTown Chick is MIA. Last we heard she was going to Duluth with the kids to play for the weekend and now we can't find her. Getting concerned. MoM lives north of Fosston - WAAAYYYYY up in the boonies.  MNNice got a confession from her neighbors son (hes around 30-ish) that is was his dog and not an Eagle that got one of her birds - oh . . . . and he offered her free labor and $20 for the concrete driveway he says she needs. ILL is planning a big business adventure with some of her birds which some of her relatives may help her with and would be a ton of work. Kind of interesting to hear how Europe eats some of their poultry.

Anyone else have reviews.

This review is the view of one chickener and not intended to offend or condone or brag up any one chickener. IF, for some reason, you feel it is not complete feel free to add to it, change it, or write your own review.

Wow, fantastic! I think lvie should do a review once a week for those of us that need to get caught up here and there, but don't have a million years to read. What do you say, a week in review by lvie?

Good Morning Chickeners . . . . SUNSHINE! Jerry - are you getting any of this. If not, throw your DW in your vehicle, hop in yourself, and come on up to the banana belt. I have a guest room you can stay in. Lets see if we can cure these winter blues. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . just kidding. I know where you will be if the sun shines at your home.

Iceland? Hmmmmmm . . . You see, I have these three gorgeous and nice DIL. (Lucky me!) and one of them is an accountant. Without getting into a lo o o ong story of what she does I will say she travels alot. Long story short she audits companies that support imports. So if yoLu live in Italy and import a product into the USA you may get a visit from her. Its not really a fantasy job. Its a job with travel. So she went to audit in Iceland, which she says was interesting. She loves it when she HAS to go to Hawaii. In January she went to Thailand. $10,000 flight (can you imagine?) and that company paid for her and her boss to come for a week to do the audit to make sure they were in compliance. I would say it is a 'dream' job except when she has been gone one week to one place (and its usually in the USA) and then has to leave again a few days later for another company - she does not complain and neither does the DS - however, it is tiring. She is a pretty down-to-earth woman and fun to be around.
She started me quilting. I started her scrapbooking.

I am going to push that little coop that I have been staining out of the garage this morning and hope the sunshine does it good in the drying phase of all this. I am also going to get a varnish applied to it today or tomorrow. LOL. Just for the fun of it I am going to write a Monday review this coming monday. I had better not forget any thing like the chicks hatched and calves born and shrooming talk along with snipes and dodos.

For those of you wanting broodies let the eggs pile up in the nest . Often triggers broodiness . I probably got a couple starting . I got lax on gathering on these gloomy rainy days . Sun tomorrow they say . I will be outside in the sun tomorrow . I plant to start grafting pear , apple and plum . Got things to plant . Trees and grapes . Need to set some posts in concrete for wood duck boxes . The sky is lighter today . Maybe som sun later . Fingers crossed . Meds may help some . I did not feel grumpy last night . Northern genes I guess need sun .
