Surviving Minnesota!

Speaking of cuddling chickens and broody hens....

I have a hen that is broody, again. The same one that killed her babies a couple weeks ago is broody again. She even snapped my fingers pretty darn hard when I took her eggs again.

Does anyone want a broody? If not some lucky soul at the Amish Auction will buy themselves a perpetually broody hen...Lucky person!

I am not able to house a broody hen that likes to kill her babies because they are disturbing her eggs....

I am thinking she might be an import from the Vast Wasteland of the North that somehow snuck across the border and took up residency here in the USA.

No Canuck chook could ever be so nasty.... Definitely a born 'n bred MNer, I'm afraid.

@duluthralphie is there any theory as to why she is killing her chicks? That's awful and so sad

Well, I think she is an illegal alien from the Vast Wasteland of the North, or she is just plain nuts. Hard to tell the difference....

I really think when the chicks hatched an she saw them she thought they were trying to get to her eggs and attacked them. She is not smart enough to know chicks come from those eggs.

She was a first time broody. She might be fine this time around. I know this sounds bad, but I am just tired of her and her broody craziness...much like I am with person from the Vast Wastelands of the North...

What breed is she?

She is special, I don't think breed should matter...

Are you going to discriminate based on origin and race?

She is one of my EE crossed to PC. the dark headed almost black partridge sorta birds that lay olive eggs.
