I'm using poultry netting to start. We're in a development with .5 to 1 acre lots do it's fairly populated. The neighbors behind us have buffs and have never had any predator trouble. I am hoping to put hardware cloth on at least the bottom 1/3 of run eventually. I'm way over budget.

Good evening chickeners. The days pass by quickly and then I have to wonder what I did that day. I promise that next week I will post pictures of what I have done in the coop and the baby chick and the GLW. I am shaking things up around here for my flocks. I put the two CW into the confined coop now. They can fly, hop, and jump out of the larger coop and are out and about daily. No more of that. Then I am moving the BO from the confined coop to the large coop. So pecking orders are going to be changing. The two GLW are going to be incorporated into the big coop/flock also. I want all the heavier birds in that coop. Those that I want to keep. Okay - so what else? The DH turns 60 and wants family and close friends to come to Aitkin to play for the weekend. Also, two dil and two grandsons' have August birthdays. And a bil. Oh! and a sister! Decembers were cold, dark months and August proves that true. So busy time this week. The county assessor comes in Thursday morning and ya know the house has to be at least somewhat clean. Already started cooking for weekend foods.

What alot of jumping through hoops to get a breed accepted to show. Diligent Ralphie.

Morning All....

So much to do and it gets so hot,,,I have to play Mexican and take the hottest part of the day,,I would like a siesta, but no time for that as we head to fall.

Yesterday I went to Monticello and got my lug nuts from the lawn mower incident. I then went to Fleetfarm and picked up a bunch of plastic/fiberglass fence posts. They are 50 cents off right now until the 12th. I hope I got enough.

I have one SS hen that is still naked and has been all summer. I am a little worried about her. She has never stopped laying. I bought some "feather fixer" like product with a ton of minerals and vitamin, I have never used it or been a fan of it, but I want this hen to get feathers back.

I also got some wasine and will use frontline on her in case she has a worms, bugs or mite. I have seen nothing on her but there must be a reason.

@memphis Snitch will not be going to a show, she is a rather smallish non-spectacular hen. She is just a bird I like and not worth showing. None of my turkeys really are worth showing, with the exception of the one Bronze Tom. I am not sure if I will show him. Taking a turkey takes up so much space and I to not have time to train him, bath him and make him look all pretty.

Going to cooler today, but rain this afternoon if the Shaman's have the forecast correct. Maybe I can get something done before the rain hits.

First though, I need my normal 10 cups of coffee.

Ivermectin kills mites, worms and all sorts of other stuff and it works fast! Just don't get it on your skin... you will have to throw her eggs... But it's handy...

ETA if you go this route than I would get a syringe and put a drop under each wing and a drop by the vent. That is all it takes. But don't give them too much... That could be bad...

Two dead chicks this Am. Jerry told me to expect that. But now my perfect record is shot to poop. Mass hatching and brooding casualties.
Hard to see but I know it's a part of it.

Lots of chick tv last night. They are all so darling.
