I made sexlinked olive eggers with a birchen Marans cock over cream legbar hens. They were all black, but males had a white headspot and females were all black.

I found with legbar cock over birchen Marans hens, everyone comes out barred, but with birchen Marans cock over cream legbar hens, only males are barred, and pullets are solid black.

I moved the broody hutch into the run finally today. Should have done this much sooner. That egg is dark with Big air sack (yesterday's candling) and Miss Kitty had her claws out and her beak. Man was she mad! Since we are dealing with lice and mites I checked her and she looked good actually. But I know she's had nosey nellies checking in on her so I put two drops on her back. Garlic in the baby fount I've set up for her and the chick. We're ready for baby anytime now I'd say.
The rest of the flock enjoying our Indian Summer. How gorgeous it's been ... maybe a tidge too warm. We're really going through water in the founts, I've noticed. I think the molt brings about more water drinking too... and the heat...
I think that's it so far... looking forward to a nice lunch with some BYCers tomorrow!
