Hockey helmet might be a good idea too. That bird sounds nuts.Morning, I slept in late and then putzed around the house before sitting down to the putor.
I have been crying all night, I did not realize I gave Holm such a good bird. The only fault I saw on him was that little "blip" on his ear lobe. When he was here I thought he was too small and young but in the photos he looks good. One of the weird things I have found with Urch's line of Doms is their size. They get bigger than the SOP's as yearlings, the Cockerels are just about perfect for that. I am going to make a Sign for Holm's cage in Hutch saying Bred by Ralphie.....
When they give him the Best of show for American breed, I will stand up and yell " BUT I BRED THAT BIRD"....
I am a little worried about winning this year BoB or RoB, because I sold too many birds to others that will show against me. The only hope I have is most only bought 5-10 birds and did not have many to chose from and I had over 50 birds to pick from. Next year, I will not be selling any show birds as chicks. I am learning from Mike Gilbert.
Speaking of Chanticlers (Mike Gilbert) There is a minor hitch in showing Knucklehead (AKA Psycho by @MNChickMom ) He refuses to be socialized in the least little bit. I might have to get a "beware of chicken" sign. If anyone wants to practice chicken whispering feel free to come over and whisper to Knucklehead. Bring your own mink handling gloves, at least elbow length.
The cooler weather is here, now if it just doesn't get too cold.

Bat sheisa Crazy! - The Open Class judge in Benton County would not take him out of his cage to give him full judging. Then 2 other judges walked by him and said they would choose "Pscho's brother" over "Pscho" only due to temperment. I felt it was easier to send him back to his breeder.![]()
After meeting him on Friday I can see why you sent him back![]()
If pooping on me was a sign of friendship then yes, yes we didCome on tell the truth, you two hit it off like long lost buddies!...![]()
Hi! In 4H it is required that you show a bird that is hatched after January first of that year. So you will need to buy birds early next spring for next years show season. In 4H they have 4 classes for chickens. They have a market pen which consists of either 2 Cockerel or 2 pullets, a breeding pen which consists of a cockerel and 2 pullets or a laying pen which consists of 2 pullets. The CX will always do best in the market and Sexlinks in the laying pens. In breeding pens its hard to tell which birds will win. Usually the show quality birds will win but I have found that that is not always true....
